Exploring the Waters of Tolantongo
We will meet at the "Angel de Independencia" approximately around 6:15am, departing early to escape the city chaos. Our group will have private comfortable transportation. We will stop for an early breakfast in Actopan, a city halfway to our destination. The day is divided into three parts. Pool Tranquility: Start your day relaxing a while in the “pocitos”; naturally warm thermal pools that provide astounding views that soothe & clear the body and mind –perfect for “the gram.” River Relaxation: Next, the turquoise-colored river is well-managed and is naturally warm due to the thermal springs, a complete relaxing experience. Lunch will be alongside the river (weather permitting). Cave Exploration: Finally, you will see awe-inspiring waterfalls and unexpected adventure that our guests have described as “life changing.” We will head out by 5:30PM arriving between 9-10:30PM, full of new experiences and photos to share with envious family/friends. Injuries, while rare, may occur during an outdoor exploration. This experience includes water, creating slippery walking surfaces near the pools and river. There is a bonus cave (optional) with low clearance –be aware of height to reduce risk of head injury. There is inherent risk with any outdoor activity. Protect yourself by wearing proper footwear and being cautious during each activity. Emergency clinics onsite.

⭐Coffee Tasting with National Judge
2018 Airbnb Hospitality award winners. From all of our food experiences this is our favorite. We got mentioned on Conde Nast Travel, Business Insider and Forbes Mexico! The only place to taste coffee from the best farm we have in Mexico, 3 times winner of the National Cup of Excellence Competition. Mexico is one of the top producers of coffee in the world, with its array of high-quality beans. Let’s immerse ourselves in this fascinating universe. First we will start with some exercises based on the neuroscience of flavor in which we learn about the aromas, flavors, and textures you can find in a cup of coffee. Then we are ready to taste simply the best beans we have in Mexico. Believe me...as a national judge I have access to all the best beans, even the ones that won the national competition.

Make tacos al pastor with a chef
During this experience, you will learn to cook the famous "tacos al pastor" with my dad, a professional instructor and culinary artist, who will share his tips and recipes with you. After we meet, we'll take a trip to the local market to buy ingredients and learn more about Mexican spices and food. Then we'll return to my family home, where you will learn how to marinate the meat for the tacos. You will prepare red salsa, green salsa, and guacamole, and make your own tortillas on the traditional Mexican "comal"—a smooth, flat griddle. At the end, we'll put everything together to make the tacos, sit and enjoy what you have prepared, and learn a little more about Mexican gastronomy. Other things to note We will give you the recipe at the end of the class. You can take the class in English, Spanish, or French. We can also offer a chicken and a vegetarian version.

Prehispanic Shaman Renewal
Melt away stress in this Temazcal experience with a native healer and spiritual guide. The sweat lodge is the setting for a 2,500-year-old ritual that uses a prehispanic technique (Mayan-Zapotec or Aztec, depending of the guide) to illuminate a pathway into your inner self and begin a rebirth of love in your soul. You’ll enjoy freshly brewed herbal tea from a medicinal garden as you drink in teachings of Temazcal history. After applying aloe, salts and herbs to your body, you’ll listen to songs and wise words to calm the mind and breathe vapor from medicinal plants. Other things to note: *The duration of the experience inside the Temazcal may vary for the group or individuals, depending on how each person feels (usually about 1-2 hours). *Because there are sometimes many rituals per week the ritual is performed by different guides: Javier Moctezuma (Mexica descendant), Huitzi (zapotec "Nahual"), Luis Gómez (medicine man), María or myself (medicine women). *Luis Gómez, María Luis Belmonte or myself translate the ritual from spanish to english when its guided by Huitzi or Javier. IMPORTANT: *The shamans have to travel to CDMX for this ritual, the logistics, expenses per person and planning that involve this ritual make it difficult for us to give full refunds when canceling less than 48 hours in advance. In case of covid, airbnb gives full refund.*
Pre-Hispanic sunrise of Xochimilco
In the South of the Mexico City, we can find Xochimilco, where prehispanic natives built the chinampas on top of a great lake. This are islands used for agriculture, that through time, conformed a great network of canals, in which we will sail through time, enjoying nature and the presence of its flora and fauna. We will embark on a cayuco (small boat), a little bit before sunrise and we´ll silently watch the birds waking up through the mist, realizing that this is a living ecosystem which is home for several native birds, including migrating ones. We are going to row through the canals, the same way as the natives did it so many years ago. We´ll have a small coffe break and arrive to our chinampa in time for breakfast. Then, we will learn from the ancient and new techniques used at the chinampa to produce a sustainable an organic agriculture. Other things to note: It is advise that guests should know how to swim, just in case ; ) There´s a dry toilet for men and women at the chinampa. As well as water and soap to wash your hands and face.
Chinampas: Living an ancient culture
We will sail on canoe through the most conserved channels of Xochimilco wetland. During the tour, we will tell you about the history of the place and its importance to the sustainability of Mexico City. In your way, you will recognize the biological richness like birds, snakes, frogs and plants. We will arrive at a chinampa where you can get your hands dirty experiencing the ancestral technique of cultivation and discovering why it is considered a world heritage. Also, you will get involve in the diary activities in the chinampa like crop irrigation, harvest or seeding. Before going back to land, you will have time to relax and enjoy the peace of the place. This is a cultural tour that helps to promote the community development.

Learn jewelry, make silver ring
We will start with a small introduction to jewelry, we will talk about the handling, care and safety required for the implementation of the workshop. At the end we will start with the technical learning of how to make a 925 sterling silver ring from scratch, starting with the mixture of metals to convert pure silver .999 to .925. The techniques that we will handle will be casting by means of torches, sheet metal rolling (thinning and stretching the silver ingot) draft (cutting the silver by means of saw blades and jeweler's bow) ring making (silver bending and straightening), welded (Union of the different pieces of the ring by means of a torch and welding) and finally the finish that can be matte or polished. Get ready to learn a new technique and take home a piece of jewelry made with your own hands. We will provide you with all the necessary tools to learn and wear a sterling silver ring made by yourself. If necessary, we can meet somewhere in the middle and take a taxi to the workshop. If you do not find an available date in our calendar, please send us a request to place the date you want to attend.
