What you'll do

We will either meet at the "Angel de Independencia" (4 or more ppl) or you will be picked up from your location stay (under 4) at 6AM, departing early to escape the daily city chaos.

Our group will have private comfortable transportation. We will stop for an early breakfast in Actopan, a city we will be passing halfway along the way to our destination.

Upon arriving, we will break our trip into three parts.

Pool tranquility: Start your day relaxing a while in the pocitos; naturally warm thermal pools that provide astounding views that soothe the body; perfect for the gram (from here there are zip-lining options available).

River relaxation: Continuing the trip we will transition to the turquoise-colored river. The river is well maintained and controlled to be clean and remain warm from the same hot springs and caves we will explore, a complete relaxing experience. Lunch will take place before we move to the caves.

Cave exploration: The caves are the final part of our entire trip. You will see awe-inspiring waterfalls and unexpected adventure that our guests describe as “life changing”

We will head out by 5:30PM, full of new experiences to share with family and photos for your envious friends.

No pets. Emergency clinics on site.

Return arrival varies between 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

Plan accordingly, weekday trips are best. Weekends are not worth your time and money.

I left public education in the US for an indeterminate period of time to experience living in the chaos that is Mexico City. I was born and raised in Dallas, and spent my summers in Mexico growing up. I hold a BA in Hispanic Studies from the UTexas-Austin and was a bilingual teacher in Dallas for seven years. I am a native English and fluent Spanish speaker. I have spent my summers exploring Mexico- north, central, and south. Mexico City is the central point to beginning your journey in any direction. I am able to get around the city and the countryside without issue. When designing trips, I take into consideration and anticipate what my “neediest” friends would need for a trip that is relaxing, entertaining, and most importantly convenient. I am more than happy to share a piece of my best experiences and memories with you.

We will be traveling to the hidden community of Tolantongo, meaning "place of warmth". The small community of locals have joined together to provide a relaxing place to escape daily life and experience their hot springs. It is a beautiful place that feels like paradise. It is located about 200 kms (125 miles) north of CDMX in the state of Hidalgo. Here we will discover the relaxing "pocitos" pools, soothing turquoise-river, and enchanting caves.

Without a doubt the best part of our trip. I was on the fence about doing a tour and wanted to make my own way up there, but I’m so glad I took the dang tour instead. Arturo was such a wonderful host and thought of everything. The pools were beautiful and amazing but photos can really never do justice for the caves. They are unreal. I would have never found all the cool secret spots if it wasn’t for Arturo. I plan to come back to CDMX and I would definitely take this tour again. Don’t sleep on this one.

Personally, I WOULD recommend this excursion - with a private group (for COVID concerns, as you are in a van with other participants (max 10) for a good chunk of the day). I would also suggest that folks to *not* schedule it for the day before traveling home - as it is a long (but enjoyable!) day that left us scrambling to finish packing and righting our Airbnb before we left first thing in the morning. The packs Arturo created that folks mention in other reviews were super well-thought out - and I would recommend adding bug spray that people with sweet blood apply throughout the day. I am also glad we brought pillows for the ride as other reviewers have mentioned. Was a beautiful day with many photos to show for it!

wonderful tour! a lot of thought and consideration by Arturo and Alex for providing everything you need for the day (waterproof phone case, toilet paper for the bathrooms, cell chargers, bag for wet clothes...) this has been my favorite tour during my time in cdmx!!! the hot waters and caves themselves are truly amazing, and some of the coolest things I've experienced!

Mexico’s Blue lagoon I was so nervous that this was gonna be tacky and it was soooo legit. The tour guide was an Empath and really checked on the 6 of us and easily spoke English and Spanish. The trip started in a van ( bring a pillow to sit on or use for comfort ) and they broke up the drive nicely and although it’s 3 hours away you get there easily with a breakfast and shop break. The actual place is awesome and super clean. I had private pools to myself and the vibe is totally family oriented but the couples were there loving the instagram moments ! The best part was the tunnel and cave. David was always right next to us but not bothering except to explain. The key thing is anyone can do this I am a big lazy guy and nothing was difficult !!!! The water shoes are indispensable! David was the best

David was our guide, and he did an absolutely incredible job. Everything is organized and communicated thoroughly, and so so many details were taken care of for us (waterproof phone cases, backpacks, beverages, even a movie on the way home!). If I could give this tour 10 stars, I would!

Arturo was just incredibly well organized and had thought of everything. The caves at Tolantongo are spectacular and way cooler than we expected. Great trip!
