Strathmere also makes a great starting point for exploring the Cape May Peninsula. Just 10 minutes south, you can also explore neighboring Sea Isle City, a vibrant beach community with a long promenade and a variety of entertainment options.

Summer is the most popular time to visit Strathmere, and prime time for sunbathers, boaters, anglers, hikers, and swimmers. The warm Atlantic waters and idyllic temperatures make conditions pleasant for enjoying outdoor recreation and the beautiful beaches dotting the Cape May Peninsula.

During the fall months, songbirds, monarch butterflies, and tree swallows become abundant along the diverse coastline habitats. Depending on how far along it is into the season, lingering balmy weather and warm waters may still provide opportunities to enjoy water recreation. After that, temperatures drop and the Atlantic turns chilly, but the high-tide line during this time creates exceptional opportunities for shell collecting along Corson’s Inlet.

Corson’s Inlet State Park

Carson’s Inlet State Park is a scenic gem that highlights the coastal town’s natural beauty. This state park boasts untouched nature and diverse habitats, from its golden sand and forested dunes to marine estuaries and tidal flats. You can enjoy hiking, boating, crabbing, fishing, and sunbathing with one of Strathmere’s most serene landscapes as the backdrop. Through the seasons, migratory wildlife, including a variety of seabirds, nestle along the dense dunes.

Whale Creek Marina

The Whale Creek Marina, which gets its name from nearby Whale Beach, is a full-service marina that provides rentals for boats, single and double kayaks, paddleboards, fishing rods, crab pot traps, and nets. A boating license isn’t required for boat rentals. Whale Creek is a hub for water-based recreation, making it easy to enjoy some of Strathmere’s favorite pastimes.

Sea Isle City Promenade

Just a nine-minute drive south of Strathmere, you’ll find the neighboring coastal community of Sea Isle City, which boasts a paved promenade rather than a typical wooden boardwalk. Here, you’ll find a collection of casual cafes, gift shops, arcade centers, bars, and more. You’ll also discover unique shopping and dining opportunities, with fresh, locally caught seafood topping many menus. Live jazz and occasional movie nights animate the promenade with a vibrant atmosphere in the evenings.
