Wooded &Fabulous Brown County Cabin

Located at the end of a short gravel lane, this spacious cabin is just 2.2 miles from the heart of Nashville- Indiana's quaint artist colony and tourist destination. Though it is easy to get to, you will feel like you are in the middle of the woods, which surround the house on three sides. You can touch the trees from the lovely decks, which wrap around the house on two levels. A garden, featuring various flowering and local plants, meanders down a rock path to the gazebo, which contains the luxury 6-person hot tub! The sweet smell of cedar and mix of antique and plush furnishings welcome your first step inside the cabin, and the wooded views from the full wall of glass doors beckon you to kick back and start relaxing. Spend your day taking in the beauty of the Brown County State Park, and checking out the area wineries, antique and artisan shops, art galleries, and restaurants in Nashville. Or, stay around the house and cook dinner together in the full kitchen or out on the gas grill while watching your friend (or your self!) reel in the catch-of-the-day at the 3-acre lake. Bait can be found under most rocks in the garden-borrow our shovel! Canoe and life-jackets available. In the evening, snuggle-up around the outdoor fire-pit or inside in front of the wood-burning “Brown County Stone” fireplace. If you so desire, turn on one of the flat screen TVs if you don't want to miss your favorite program or the "big game," or opt to pop-in one of our large selections of DVDs. Finally, enjoy the down-alternative comforters and high thread count towels and sheets as you are lulled to sleep by the peaceful rhythms of the woods... Fireflies and WiFi included FREE OF CHARGE! We are happy to suggest things to do/places to eat/local people to meet (or avoid!) OR will leave you to the peace and quiet the magical cabin ensures. Amenities: The main floor of the Annandale House includes: *King master bedroom *Clawfoot bathtub and separate shower in master bathroom *Two extra long comfy couches in the main room *Cathedral ceilings with a two story wood burning fireplace *two cable flat screen televisions with dvd players *Fully stocked kitchen with dishwasher and dining area *Amazing views of the woods from a wall of sliding glass doors *Propane gas grill on wraparound deck, propane included *Linens, towels, paper towels and toilet paper included *Central heating/AC The top floor includes: *Antique queen bedroom *A full bathroom *A private and comfortable futon in the loft area * A roll top desk/ business station *Additional queen bed The lower-level suite includes: *Very nice futon couch, privately located *Full bathroom with large shower *Game room with luxury pool table and board games *Flat screen tv/dvd player *Wet bar *Wall of sliding glass doors overlooking woods *Private entrance and wraparound deck Other amenities: *Two levels of wraparound decks *Fishing pond with canoe *Amazing hot tub in the garden gazebo *Woods for hiking *Just 2.2miles west of the center of Nashville! *Great wildlife/bird watching and hooting with the owls *Horseback-riding and mountain-biking in nearby state park *Paintball and ziplining are minutes away *Close proximity to Bloomington, IN and the lively atmosphere surrounding Indiana University. PLEASE NOTE: 1. The bottom step of the basement stairs is higher than the others. Please be aware of this and use caution when using all stairs at the cabin. 2.Being in the middle of the woods, the occasional mouse or bug can make its way into the house. We make all efforts to keep this to an absolute minimum. Please try to keep an open mind, as an occasional meeting of Mother Nature's critters is a small price to pay for her absolute beauty in this pristine location! (That being said, please let us know if such a meeting occurs).

Your guide to Brown County

All About Brown County

Brown County, Indiana offers 16,000 acres of spectacular state park land and a thriving artist community just an hour south of Indianapolis. The county is home to one of the first artist colonies in the country, and residents continue to inspire visitors with handcrafted glass, leather, jewelry, and other artisan products being displayed at the Arts Village in downtown Nashville. Studios and galleries line the streets here, alongside the Brown County Music Center to the historic Brown County Playhouse, which host live performances throughout the year.

This is also the home of Brown County State Park, where you can spend afternoons hiking or biking by lakes and waterfalls, gazing out from the tops of steep ravines, and in the fall, experiencing the vibrant changes in foliage. The park also offers a number of trail riding centers where you can catch a glimpse of the beautiful scenery on horseback.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Brown County

Brown County is renowned for its spectacular fall landscapes when the orange hues of the leaves attract visitors from both near and far. If you want to be guaranteed some top-quality photos, then it’s worth getting your Brown County cabin booked for October or early November at the very latest. This area also makes for a fantastic summer destination, with the local state park offering a host of fun activities, and swimming pools also open to the public to keep you cool on those hotter-than-average days.

Top things to do in Brown County

Arts Village Brown County

This arts hub has taken center state in Brown County for more than 100 years. Visit the Village to pick up a handcrafted piece of art from a local maker — or craft your own souvenir at one of the artist-run classes or workshops. If live music is your thing, head to the Brown County Music Center, or simply keep an ear out at the various coffee shops, wineries, breweries, and restaurants in the area, where local groups will often perform. You can also catch a theater performance at the volunteer-run Brown County Playhouse.

Bean Blossom Covered Bridge

Every place has its most photographed spot, and for Brown County the Bean Blossom Covered Bridge is just that. Constructed in 1880, the bridge once served as the main passage into nearby Nashville. Located at the end of a winding lane, the local monument is now closed to car traffic for safety reasons, but it’s certainly worth a stroll to catch a glimpse of the blossoms in bloom during spring months.

Zipline through the treetops

Can’t fit all of the sites into your stay? Treat yourself to a high-speed tour on one of the dozen ziplines located at various points across the state park. These ziplines will take you quickly from treetop to treetop, with some spectacular views of ravines, sky-bridges, and hills below.
