Apartment in the heart of ChiantiNido dei Ciappi is a pretty two-room apartment on the ground floor of a historical building in the main street of Barberino Val d'Elsa. The apartment enjoys an excellent view over the countryside and private garden surrounded by age-old Holm oaks and cypresses. Recently restructured, it is tastefully furnished: the bedroom, which features a beamed ceiling, has a double bed with wrought iron headboard and the bathroom with shower, wc, bidet and sink. The dining room leads directly out onto the garden, where a table, chairs and sun umbrella allow guests to dine al fresco. On the other side of the historical porch there is another green area, furnished with sun loungers for relaxing in the shade of the cypresses.
The village of Barberino is situated in a strategic part of Tuscany: in the heart of Chianti, a 20-minute car ride from the region's leading artistic and cultural towns: Sienna, Florence and San Gimignano. But Barberino isn't just a stopping point on the way to the important towns: the village has its very own agricultural and cultural value, thanks to its central position in the Chianti hills, as proven by the role it played in the past (during the Middle Ages, with the Via Francigena and commercial traffic). Besides its gastronomic and artistic assets, the village also offers visitors its traditionally welcoming and simple atmosphere, characteristic of small Tuscan villages. The very fact that it is a village sets it apart from the big commercial tourist centres, which are often crowded and noisy. With a population of just one thousand, life in Barberino is exceptionally restful, both for villagers and visitors alike. While being small, the village offers all the most important facilities; there are restaurants, cafe bar, an artisan bakers' shop, a small supermarket and the turist information. A large public car park serves the centre of the village and a range of public transport services link Barberino to Florence and Poggibonsi. Lastly, it is possible to go on walking and horse riding excursions, as well as guided tours of the village's wineries.
