Participating in the great debate of breakfast tacos is basically a pillar of existence in Texas. Not only is Habanero close and delicious but arguable have the most reasonably priced dishes in town. I personally love the barbacoa and carne asada tacos but if that's not your style plain breakfast tacos can not go wrong here!

I spent many a college night draining the coffee pots while studying at the Magnolia Café. This diner feels like your grandma or quirky aunt's house. The menu has something for everyone and with its 24 hours of operation any time is a good time to grab a bite here!

This is my first stop, typically by request, when I have international friends visiting. Another great debate of Texas, who's got the best BBQ? Now that is a hard and long drawn fight... I can say in confidence though, should you try the beef rib at Terry Black's, you will leave here with a sound opinion as to what is the top BBQ item to be found in Texas!

The original Torchy's used to be right around the corner on S. 1st. While it is missed this big beautiful taco shop situated on Congress still maintains the same delicious menu and does right by the Austin born franchise. They have a delicious twist on street corn and some of the best craft soda in town!

The Mount Bonnell hike is short and relatively easy. There are two ways up, a staircase and a mild to moderate incline. This is one of the best small hikes in Austin offering a beautiful view of the Lake and many of Austin's most spectacular homes.

Barton Springs locally known twin, Barkin Springs is one of the coolest hangouts in town. This free hangout is located under the damn at the Barton Springs Pool. You will witness the absolute soul of this city in it's true form. That can also be considered a warning, people are harmless but definitely not shy. So if you're looking for a budget friendly spot to take in the city, enjoy the crystal clear ice cold water of the springs and meet some true Austinites, this spot is for you.
