Near Piazza Venezia, the Theater of Marcellus (in Latin: Theatrum Marcelli) is a theater of ancient Rome, still partially preserved, built at the behest of Augustus in the southern area of the Campo Marzio between the Tiber river and the Campidoglio.
The Theater of Marcellus is an interesting document of the transition period towards the classicism of the late Augustan age, fused with a certain richness in the decoration (as in the Doric frieze on the first order). The sobriety in the structure of the facade made it a reference model for every future Roman theater and amphitheater.

“The Apotheosis of Saint Ignatius" is an extraordinary illusionist fresco of Andrea Pozzo, Jesuit, architect and late-baroque painter, located on the ceiling of the Church of Sant'Ignatius of Loyola in Rome. The fresco, when viewed
from the bottom, offers a prospective simulation of a second temple, superimposed on the first, the real one, in a sinuous movement of columns and arches stretching upward where,
in a golden light, is depicted the glory of St. Ignatius with Christ carrying the Cross. From Christ's side a beam of light
illuminates Ignatius, from which in turn moves toward four allegorical figures around him representing the four
continents then-known.
