Buarthau at NookSnowdonia is a Grade II listed cottage nestled in the mountains under a vast sky, an ideal base from which to explore the wild beauty of Snowdonia. It's a secluded hideaway but within reach of sandy beaches, mountains and attractions of North Wales. The cottage has original features including an inglenook fireplace with woodburner and some low, unconventional doors. 100% powered by renewable energy, with underfloor heating to keep you cosy. Discounts available for long stays.

The space
Our cottage is over 250 years old with some original features including 18th century graffiti in the slate living room floor. Low doors and thick stone walls create a magical and peaceful environment and will keep you feeling safe and snug if the weather takes a turn for the worse. The cottage sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms (1 king, 1 twin, 1 adult sized bunk) and there is space for a travel cot for the smallest travellers. There are 2 bathrooms one with shower and one with small sit in bath tub. Wood burning stoves and underfloor heating make for a cosy stay, whatever the season and complimentary wood is provided at the start of your stay. The kitchen with views out to back garden has an oven, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and comfortable dining table. Wifi (Fibre Broadband), TV, DVD player, games, iPod dock are provided to guests. The cottage is situated in 90 acres of land in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. A stream runs past the front of the cottage and provides the perfect spot for riverside campfires, paddling, and lazying in a hammock or river den. Behind the cottage, the land climbs to over 200m, and you're welcome to explore to find views down to the sea or across to Snowdon and the other beautiful mountain peaks. Guests have exclusive use of our outdoor wood-fired hot tub - located about 50m from the house in which to rest weary muscles from a day of walking. Guests have responsibility for the hot tub during their stay but we can often be on hand to assist.

We're a young family on an adventure in Snowdonia having left London in 2016. We came here to bring up our young family and enjoy the mountains, coast and lakes of Snowdonia. We want guests to explore, re-wild and renew in this amazing natural playground. We can help you find the best trail, beach, or tree to just sit under. We'll encourage you to explore and ensure you always have a comfortable base to return to at the end of the day.

For additional cost and subject to availability, we can provide mountain walking and trail running guiding if you want to take on a more adventurous route and escape the masses on Snowdon. We also provide forest school style sessions for children from 3-8years old if parents feel the need to stretch legs a little further than their childrens, where nature trails and outdoor adventures end in a campfire.
