A peaceful retreat within the woodland forest of Mt. Holomondas.The cottage is perfect for those who want to escape the city and enjoy the countryside. It is a great base from which to explore the mountains, beaches and villages of Halkidiki.

The space
The cottage is cosy and stylishly designed for comfort as well as for practical living, with everything you need to make your stay relaxing. Situated along a quiet track with plenty of off-road parking.

It features a traditional living-sitting area with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen-dinning area, bathroom and a loft bedroom. There is also a washing machine for your convenience and a sunny landscaped courtyard for you to enjoy. WiFi is also available.

The thick stone walls offer excellent insulation and central heating is available if needed, so the cottage can be used all year.

The accommodation suits a couple, or a couple with one or two children.

Where you’ll be

Halkidiki, Greece

Walking out of the front door brings you immediately to the mountains. Paleokastro is a heritage village at an altitude of 570 meters. The village is quiet, yet friendly. All the houses are keeping with the heritage of the village.
It is located at the doorstep of Mount Holomondas. This unique mountainous area boasts beautiful woodland forests with magical views as well as beaches where the mountain meets the sea. The mountain is also known for its alternative tourism activities and is part of the Natura 2000 network.
From here there are many places to explore around the area with a variety of activities such as:
* Hiking and bushwalking the many trails of the mountain
* Mountain biking
* Horse riding
* Visiting and walking around the surrounding heritage villages
* Beaches (Gerakini beach is 25 minutes away)
* Day trips to any of the three ‘fingers” or ‘legs’ of Halkidiki
* Swimming
* Kayaking
* Boat trips to Mount Athos
* Bars, cafes, restaurants
Ideally you will have a car to drive around locally. Parking is available onsite.
The village is a seven minute drive to Polygyros where there are bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. There are also three big supermarkets in Polygyros for you to shop.

Originally from Thessaloniki I was drawn to this place because of the tranquil lifestyle that it offers.
After purchasing this small cottage, I restored it to its original glory. For me this place is a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
I love nature so living at the foothills of Mount Holomontas is perfect. I am also lucky that I have access to many of the beaches throughout Halkidiki and enjoy swimming and kayaking.
I also like to travel (which I am sure you can relate to) and have been lucky enough to see a few places around the world.
