Where you’ll be

County Mayo, Ireland

Fuchsia Cottage is situated just off the Wild Atlantic Way and a short drive from the towns of Killala (10km), Ballina (20km) and Ballycastle (15km), as well as Erris. It’s an ideal location for walking, cycling, fishing, surfing and exploring the countryside. As well as the two beaches within walking distance (one of which being the magnificent Kilcummin Back Strand), there is another lovely beach, Ross, located just outside Killala on the way to the cottage. The cozy local bar (Bessie’s) is at nearby Kilcummin pier. The stunning Dún Briste sea stack is located at Downpatrick Head, just outside Ballycastle. North Mayo is steeped in history, with numerous archeological sites including the Céide Fields and the 3 ancient Monasteries of the Moy: Rathfran, Moyne and Rosserk. The location of the Humbert Landing of the Irish 1798 Rebellion is also next to Lacken Strand. Check out ‘Mayo North Tourism’ online for lots of information about things to do in the area.
