The space
We welcome you to cottage living in the idyllic province of Dalsland!

Only 4 km from the famous historic Aqueduct in Håverud on a cul-de-sac in a peaceful little village this rustic little cottage offers:

• Huge garden for play and relaxation including your own little forest with occasional sightings of deer, foxes and if you are very lucky maybe a moose.

• Cozy combo living room and bedroom with fire place, big sofa to curl up in and sturdy built-in bunk bed for 2.

• Small, but functional kitchen with basic utensils and dining table for 4. High chair for baby available. The kitchen has a basic stove and oven, coffee maker, micro, refrigerator and small freezer.

• Bedroom up stairs with one queen size bed (160x200) and one children’s bed (80x120).

• Bathroom with regular toilet, shower and small washing machine.

• No TV but Wi-Fi and reasonable cell connection in the nearby area.

• Feel free to pick any edible berries and fruits you find in the garden and mushrooms if the season and weather is right.

This precious 100-year old cottage built in the 1920s has been ours for a couple of years and we are slowly renovating it, trying to restore some of it’s former glory. This means that the living standard is, as seen in the photos, simple, always functional and quite comfortable, but not completely picture perfect in every corner.

Also, as we live far away and cant visit the cottage that often we usually prefer guests bringing their own bed linens and towels. (Pillows 50x60 and comforters 150x210 provided.) And, PLEASE READ the important notes below before booking. Thank you! :)

The province of Dalsland is covered with more lakes than almost any other in Sweden. One of the most beautiful waterways in Europe, the Dalsland Canal, connects a labyrinth of large and small lakes and rivers, with idyllic, meandering thoroughfares. You can experience the waters by renting canoes or by passenger tour boats.

*Opened in 1868 the Dalsland canal aqueduct in Håverud is an historic ingenious solution to what seemed to be the impossible idea to build a canal and locks due to the soft rock and the deep valley where the river gushed forth. But it worked out and still today boats, cars and trains can here meet all in the same spot, at different levels. Here you will also find craftsmen, exhibitions, a tourist agency, a restaurant, café, and so on.

*Hire an inspection trolley and cycle by rail between Bengtsfors and Årjäng. The route is one of Sweden's longest at 50 km (32 miles) which you can combine with canoeing. DVVJ also run a rail car between Bengtsfors and Mellerud passing through Dalslands most popular tourist attraction, the aqueduct in Håverud.

*Lake Vänern, the biggest in Sweden, is only 12 km away with several nature reserves and small nice beaches. Vita Sandar is one of the bigger ones.

*Only 2 km away by the lake Spången is the Dalsland art museum. Home to works of important Dalsland artists as well as a sculpture park, café with a breathtaking view over a lake.

These are just a few picks of all the sights and activities available in the neighbouring area – please find more info online.

Lakes, bikes and canoes..
There are some nice lakes nearby the cottage. It takes about 30 minutes by foot to the nearest (you can walk/bike half of the way on an old traffic free road in the forest and the rest on a small country road). If you would like to swim on a public beach it is better to take a car or bikes about 3-4 km.
Concerning renting canoes/ boats / bikes there are many different options so we would recommend you to look at the internet. Search for Dalsland and then Åsensbruk or Håverud. Closest is at Dalslands Center, only 3 km away.

Hello,

We are a family of four living in the coastal city of Gothenburg. Both my husband and I work within the field of university studies.

Our family enjoys flea markets, mountain biking, ball sports, the beach and spending time at our summer cottage in Dalsland.

We are a nonsmoking and pet free family and our homes are allergy friendly.

After a great airbnb experience in Paris we decided to offer our own summer cottage in idyllic Dalsland out for rent a few times a year!

All the best!
Karolina and Mats
