Welcome to our spacious home on a quiet lane, between Ballaghaderreen and Castlerea, near Knock Shrine and Airport.

In open location with beautiful views over County Mayo, near stunning lakes with swimming/fishing, 50 mins from coast.

An eco-friendly, tastefully furnished 4 bedroom house -1 ensuite, 13 beds. Huge warm kitchen -sofas, dining table. Cosy lounge with sofas, woodburner, smart TV WiFi. Big garden/parking.

Our sister house is 6km away and both houses will together take up to 32

The space
We genuinely welcome people from all backgrounds.

This spacious house has a huge dining kitchen, separate lounge, four family-sized bedrooms, and, as a result, the house can accommodate two, three or four families holidaying together!

Inside, the house has been tastefully furnished. There are black leather sofas, a fabulous wood and slate coffee table, a large woodburner and tall pine dresser in the kitchen.

The 28+ foot-long kitchen is well-equipped with various fitted units, dishwasher, electric ovens, and gas hob. There is a large wooden dining table, that can squeeze in 8 guests (6 comfortably) with comfortable dining chairs.

From May to September, the house is usually warm with little or no heating needed. However there are 2 woodburners and electric heating available if required, all without charge.

There are no additional heating costs in cold weather that you may find in other holiday homes.

The house is also extremely well-insulated to give you extra comfort during your stay, whatever the weather conditions.

All electricity used in the house is from green sources, such as wind and solar energy and biomass. The house is eco-friendly and hence does not use fossil fuels... oil or gas.

In the lounge, there is a smaller but cosy wood burner with fully dried and seasoned wood available. There is a large Smart 55'' HD TV with Wi-Fi and Saorview. (YouTube fully accessible or use your own Netflix account). There are books to read, several games to play, and childrens' toys available at your request.

There is a mobile Wi-Fi router with 4G output. There is also a repeater/extender and this, together with the router, give very good Wi-Fi throughout the whole house, including all the bedrooms.

In terms of WiFi usage, as a general rule you can expect a data allowance of 8Gb per day.

The main bathroom is equipped with a bath and shower attachment, washbasin and WC..

In terms of sleeping:

Bedroom 1 is ensuite and has a king-size bed with a bedside table/locker, a single bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, a separate toddler bed. The attached shower room also has a washbasin and WC. Scenic views to the rear garden.

Bedroom 2 also has a king size bed and 2 sets of bunk beds with 2 bedside tables/lockers a wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Bedroom 3 has a king size bed, a set of bunk beds, pine wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables with lamps.

Bedroom 4 has a double bed and a set of bunk beds, wardrobe and faces across the extensive rear garden.

There is a spare single mattress available to use.

All bedding used in the house is 100% cotton for extra comfort. It goes without saying that all bedding is freshly washed for each set of guests including under covers and covers to under pillows.

All bedrooms, as per the kitchen and lounge, have plenty of electric sockets, useful for charging appliances such as phones, tablets, laptops and toothbrushes.

The total of 13 beds and toddler bed will normally sleep up to 18 guests.

Being a bungalow, all rooms are easily accessible and this as a safe space for young children and those with limited mobility. Be aware of the drop from the garden to the neighbouring field which will be pointed out to you when you check in.

There is a carbon monoxide detector close to each woodburner. There are smoke detectors in each bedroom, in the corridor, the lounge and utility room. There is a great detector in the kitchen. All detectors are tested immediately before our guests arrive.

There is a first aid kit stored in the kitchen. We hope you never need to use it!

This is a pet-friendly property for well-behaved dogs, with no set limit. However, any pets should be included on your booking and a small charge applies to each pet. Please make sure your pets do not climb on any leather sofa, which could cause damage.

For smokers, smoking just inside the rear door to the garden with door open, or just outside the front door under cover with door closed is accepted. Please never smoke elsewhere in the house, especially in the bedrooms.

The rear garden is large, open and flat with well-kept grass and ideal for all ball games.

The house lies on a quiet, leafy, lane with very few vehicles passing by.

The whole house is thoroughly cleaned before new guests arrive. Our reviews at our sister house testify to this. This is a big house to clean and our standards are high and will not be compromised.

Normal check in time is from 5pm. Check out time is by 11am.

After guests leave, doors and windows will be left open for a considerable time for ventilation purposes. Common points of contact such as door and window handles, TV control, leather sofas will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. This will all be done as per the government Covid recommendations for the holiday home sector. As in all respects, we aim to operate to the highest standards.

It is also possible to securely reserve the house for extra hours after the usual check out time or before the usual check in time, but this extra will cost a little bit more.

As stated at the start, we genuinely welcome people from all backgrounds.

If, for any reason, you wish to bring extra guests to those you have booked and paid for, please contact me before your stay. We will wish to provide for all the guests you bring, and will need to charge accordingly.

A few minutes away on foot, you come to ancient bog land and it can feel as if you are entering another world. A meandering river lies close by, and it's likely that you will be alone as you explore the peace and tranquillity.
