Nestled in a sheltered spot at Huntington Point Beach, minutes away from historic Halls Harbour, is the Yellow Cottage. This unique building was the first of five concrete cottages built by Charles MacDonald in the 1930’s and has since been lovingly restored. Described as “quirky” and “cute”, our cottage on the Bay of Fundy will be a place you will want to tell your friends about.

The space
The Yellow Cottage was built by Charles MacDonald and his employees of the Kentville concrete plant during the Depression. In addition to being resourceful, MacDonald believed that concrete was a superior building product. As such, the cottages were constructed from concrete and materials sourced from the beach (stone and timbers).

You will enjoy a fully equipped kitchen while staying at the Yellow Cottage. There is a small wood stove in the kitchen and a working fireplace. Firewood is onsite. The fireplace has an original landscape painting on the front, done by MacDonald. There is a two-piece bathroom on the main level and an outdoor, south facing shower (hot and cold water). Upstairs you will find two bedrooms, both with comfy, queen size beds.

The clean, rocky beachfront is steps from the cottage, and great for walking (sneakers recommended), beach combing or evening bonfires. There is lots of lawn space for a game of washer toss. Sit in the chairs on the front deck space and enjoy the sunrise or spectacular sunsets.
