Dixie is a repurposed horse lorry with lots of character and surprises hidden on her many levels. Set within its own half acre wildflower meadow with perfect views of the thriving and constantly evolving wildlife.

Set to one side of the lorry is a large luxury walk-in shower room. The space also plays host to the well maintained composting loo.

Set to the other side of the lorry is the large firepit complete with seating area bbq tools & griddle. 4m high wrap around balcony. Luxury glamoing

The space
Leading up to the lorry is a wide climb of steps to enter on to the first floor deck. This large decking area is ideal for spilling out from. Be it sharing a meal with others or simply lying back into a canvas deck chair and taking in all the space has to offer you senses. Another climb of steps takes you up to the top floor decking area. Towering four meters, above the surrounding landscape this deck is the perfect viewing platform to observe the site wildlife. Boasting a tin roof carefully designed to be placed to add maximum privacy. With subtle evening lighting the warmth from the inside bleeds through the stained glass on the secret hobbit door.

The inside space whilst off-grid, offers many home comforts that you might not expect. A large Belfast sink, housed in locally sourced milled and worked wood, provides warm suds for washing up. Whilst in the kitchen the fridge / freezer and four hob grill / oven makes for a well-stocked space for cooking. The inside dining option, provided by another hand crafted and worked yew slabt. Set to the rear of the lorry is a large sofa bed providing a comfortable and sociable space.

As the nights draw in and the weather turns cooler the wood burner adds instant comfort to the living space. Whilst the weather might keep you from sitting around the firepit it won’t keep you indoors. Our top deck is also covered from the weathers worst elements via a pig arc shelter roof. To keep yourself dry you can also access this top deck from the internal steps and through the hobbit door.

Retirement to the king size top bed is accessed via the oak library ladder. With many lighting options controlled by the switch panel right of the internal climb to the hobbit door with coveniently placed USB sockets throughout. Integral high-quality blue-tooth sound system for those lazy lorry days.

Where you’ll be

Norfolk, England, United Kingdom

Get Away Hide Away is tucked away within the Norfolk countryside in the small Hamlet of Elsing. We are the 5th generation on the farm and we'd love to share our local knowledge. Our welcome guide has helpful maps listing attractions and facilities close to site. We are constantly reminded of how lucky we are to live in such a rural spot with the diversity of the wildlife. In any one day you could see deer tracking, all sorts of bee's and butterfly's. Often many birds of prey such as red kites, buzzards and owls can be seen hunting. The nature within the village of Elsing fortunatly attracts the sort of resident that can live alongside natural and respect how our living here could impact upon it.

It is possible to walk for 20 minutes and buy a fresh pint of milk from a dairy farm, I can reccomend getting at least one of their made-on site ice cream whilst you’re there. Elsing is a quiet and friendly slow-paced village, why not meet some locals at the regular events at the village hall or at the famous mermaid inn pub and restaurant is just a short 10 minuets walk down a footpath, over the field.

There are many bike rides taking advantage of the rural road network you can easily explore the river Wensum or the historic railway lines reinstated as footpaths. Equiped with a bike there opens up the scope for some really nice secret local spots. Please see out welcome guide for me infomation.
