The space
Caragh Lake is in the heart of Kerry's Reeks District - an area of outstanding beauty with the highest mountain in Ireland, Carrauntoohil, and the majestic Mcgillicuddy Reeks mountain range. This is THE perfect place to experience the beauty of the outdoors with climbing, hill walking, fishing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, cycling and surfing, all on your doorstep.

The Irish term for 'horizon' is bun na spéire, and so it is fitting, then, that the house going by the name of Bun na Spéire, near Killorglin in Co Kerry, is a poetic, magical sort of spot. It is on the shores of Caragh Lake, with private lake frontage and long views of an apparently bottomless sky as it's reflected to infinity in the water.

Bun Na Speire is only 30 minutes from Kerry International Airport, 20 minutes from Killarney's wonderful lakes, an hour from the famous fishing town of Dingle, a mere 10 minutes from the Blue Flag Beach of Rossbeigh and Killorglin.

As you arrive at the gates of Bun Na Speire and drive down the long sweeping driveway, you'll imagine you've arrived in another world. The architecturally striking home is orientated towards the lake and exudes exclusivity and personality. Whether you relax whilst playing music on the bespoke pipe organ, watch the wild goats amble through the landscape, or glide through the lake on your kayak you’ll be transported away from the stresses of daily life.

The Killarney-based architect designed four-bedroom house (Harry Wallace) stretches up over three floors and 3,000 sq ft designed around a striking central atrium. The living room, organ room and dining room all with lake views. There are four bedrooms in total all with views over the woodlands.

The home is entered at the ground floor via large entrance hall with spiral staircase and glass-panelled doors.

There is a guest bathroom to the left and two bedrooms (one of which is en suite) to the right.

Up on the first floor there is a cosy living area with wood-burning stove and outdoor covered balcony to take in the views of the Lake Caragh.

Overlooking the living area it is an 'organ room', complete with organ. This The dedicated organ room, yes organ room, is also on this level, as is the primary bedroom. The primary bedroom comes with full-length windows that look out into the woodland and en suite bathroom with his and hers sinks.

Above this floor is a sun room with dome roof made of glass, which is just perfect for an Irish home because it feels like you're outside, while fully covered. There is a bedroom and a dedicated working space up here.

The fully equipped kitchen can be found on the lower ground floor, along with a circular dining room, a single-storey turret-style adjunct fronted in stone.
The dining room has a free-standing Morso stove in it, and the kitchen has a long, curved breakfast bar looking over the dining room, so you can supervise your dinner companions whilst they cook:-)

The master bedroom is on the first floor and has full-length windows overlooking the woodland area. It has an en-suite with double basins and a dressing room. There is also an organ room – yes, an organ room – on this level.

A pathway at the end of the garden leads to the lake shore itself, where you'll find a private dock should you fancy a spot of fishing, an icy bathe or a picnic.

There are woodland and parkland as part of the grounds also to enjoy.
