The Ship is a charming 17th century thatched cottage right next to the rural Grand Union Canal. Not too far from London for easy day trips but nestling in the Buckinghamshire countryside, it's a great place to explore the Chilterns. It's my home, so don't expect a hotel but I guarantee you'll be comfortable and relaxed here.

The space
It's quaint. There are some low beams. There are some sloping floors. What you might expect from somewhere that was built before the Great Fire of London and a good hundred years before American Independence!

Where you’ll be

Marsworth, England, United Kingdom

Marsworth is a village on the Herts/Bucks border with a couple of pubs and a great farm shop and waterside cafe/cocktail bar but you have to take a 5 minute drive to Tring or Ivinghoe for a supermarket. Loads of lovely walks along the canals (Grand Union, Wendover Arm and Aylesbury Arm), reservoirs, woods and hills.
We're 15 minutes from London Gliding Club (go soaring!) and Whipsnade Zoo.

I'm an active 60 something living in a beautiful village an hour or so from London. I'm still working but spend as much time as I can in my glider (sailplane) soaring over the countryside. I have two adult daughters and two grandchildren (one of each). With friends and family in Canada, Australia and places in between, we like to travel. We've been particularly involved in charity projects in Peru and East Africa.
