Where you’ll be

Ano Garouna, Greece

Ano Garouna is an old village of Corfu. It was built on the hillside of the mountain close to the beach of Agios Gordios. The village offers a panoramic view to Agios Gordios and to the neighbor village of Kato Garouna. Ano Garouna is accessible through a narrow street with bluff turns. The road finishes in the central square of the village. Then you should leave the car and walk the alleyways that are formed in between the houses. In Ano Garouna you will see a small church and old buildings painted in the traditional colors of Corfu, yellow or deep pink. In the morning or in the afternoon you will also see some locals of an older age sitting in chairs outside of some cafeterias (the cafeterias in the villages are called “kafenia”) chatting about their day. This is a very common picture in villages and a habit of the past days.
