Blackthorn Gate comprises four luxury holiday lodges, situated on the border of North Yorkshire and Tees Valley.

Set in 230 acres of open farmland the lodges have been specifically designed and positioned with the huge windows at the front facing directly at Roseberry Topping so you can enjoy uninterrupted views of this glorious landmark.

The lodges are spacious and airy and can accommodate either 4 or 5 guests depending on the lodge. Mobility aids are available for use in the lodges.

The space
Skylark and Lapwing lodges both suitable for wheel chair access they have two levels. On the first floor is the main bedroom with king sized bed, wardrobe, bedside draws and lights and alarm clock /radio. there is a railed balustrade which looks down over the living dining area. There is an en suite wet room with shower, toilet hand basin and electric shaver point. On the ground floor they have a second bedroom with a single and double bed with draws underneath, bedside draws and lamp and a large wardrobe with a draw. The kitchen is fully fitted with a dishwasher,fridge,freezer,microwave, toaster, kettle, oven and hob, a full set of crockery and cutlery and a comprehensive range of kitchen utensils and saucepans. There is a combined living and dining area with a terrace off. The living area has two sofas and a high backed chair, TV, DVD player, CD radio,coffee table, floor lamp and rug. The dining area has a dining table and chairs and is directly off the kitchen. The ground floor bathroom has a bath, toilet and wet room shower area the shower area is wheel chair accessible and we have a number of aids, wheeled shower seat, toilet frame zimmer frame, swivel transfer platform for moving between chairs. The sauna is off the downstairs bathroom. The final room is a utility room with worktop, coat hooks, ironing board, iron,vacuum cleaner brushes mops and buckets. Outside each lodge is a hot tub which seats six people and is available at an additional cost, please contact venue direct to book and pay. We accept up to 2 well behaved house trained dogs in Skylark at an extra cost please contact venue direct to book and pay. There is an onsite laundry with a washing machine and tumble dryer and a games room with table tennis, pool and bar football

Blackthorn Gate is located on a farm 3/4 of a mile down a drive off the A172 between Stokesley and Nunthorpe. The nearest shops are in Nunthorpe approximately 1 1/2 miles way. Stokesley is a small market town 3 miles away and has a range of everyday shops, cafes restaurants, pubs and takeaways. The boundary of the national park lies between ourselves and Roseberry Topping. Blackthorn Gate is a quiet tranquil countryside haven with easy access to the coast and major towns and cities of the N.East

During your stay

We are Mike and Rita Corrigan. We bought Eastfields Farm, situated between Middlesbrough and Stokesley in North Yorkshire, in 2001. A new century and new challenge for us! We have renovated the farmhouse and converted the Granary into a home for Andrew and Ruth and reroofed all of the old stone built fold yard. We have planted and restored over 5 kilometres of hedgerow, dug 7 wildlife ponds and 3 fishing ponds and planted over 40,000 trees and erected a n 80kw wind turbine. Whilst all this was going on we also bought a Hardware shop in Stokesley which is now run by our middle son Owen. All the building are heated by various forms of heat pump, ground source, air source and exhaust air systems are in use
We now live here with our eldest son Andrew his wife Ruth and their three children.
Whilst not farmers previously, we have always had a keen interest in nature and wildlife,. Our aim was to enjoy a quiet life and create a haven of tranquillity! Well, it hasn’t quite worked out that way, with lots of projects to tackle and a never ending list of jobs to do. Still, we love it all and we look forward now to sharing it with you.
