Hello, my name is Aggie and I’ll be delighted to host your stay at Drop Anchor AirBnB.
I’m originally from Wexford and after living in London for a number of years I returned to Connemara with my husband Maurice, who is originally from here, to raise our family.
As well as making working currachs for local fishermen, my husband and local man himself Maurice Gordon, crafts the most exquisite model size currachs in his workshop behind the house. “It's impossible to describe in words the attention to detail in these wonderful scale models of the traditional small fishing vessel that's emblematic of the Connemara coastline; you have to see it to believe it. There are even tiny crabs in the pots, for goodness sake! And a hand-painted cross in the bow, for protection at sea!”, said Heather Greer, publisher of the Aughrus Peninsula website.
