Forget your worries in this spacious and peaceful home located on an elevated site in the middle of the bay. Pick yourself up a famous paua pie from Cafe 35, pour yourself a cold one and sit back on the deck to watch the sea and sky change from blue to purple to pink to orange. Enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets and panoramic views from almost every room. Go to sleep to the hypnotic sound of the waves then get up and do it all again! Kia tau te rangimarie...

The space
This is a two story house with four double bedrooms. The house is built for indoor/outdoor living with plenty of comfortable seating to keep everyone happy. You can even lie on the very comfortable outdoor couch with a book! You are welcome to swap a book if you finish yours and need a new one. The kitchen is fully equipped although there is no dishwasher so you will have to wash those dishes old school styles! On the upside, it has a kitchen sink with a view!

Where you’ll be

Tokomaru Bay, Gisborne, New Zealand

Tokomaru Bay is just over an hour from Gisborne on Highway 35. For such a little bay it is well endowed with beautiful beaches, bountiful fishing and diving spots, and a heritage rich in Māori Culture. If you are lucky you may hear the local haka team, Te Hokowhitu-a-tū belting out one of their popular waiata from the neighbouring marae, Waiparapara on one side or Pākirikiri on the other! And if you look hard enough when you walk past the local urupa you may spot some famous names! Tokomaru Bay also offers some of the best kai options on the coast. You can drive three minutes one way and sit on another equally impressive seaside deck at Te Puka Tavern or three minutes the other way to enjoy one of the famous paua pies - they also offer pork belly, guiness steak or smoked fish pies at Cafē 35 or right next door you will find the best fresh fish and chips on the coast (bold, but true statement)! The local Foursquare is also well-stocked with fresh and frozen meat, vegies, beer and wine!
