Daniela, Santa Catarina, Brazil
Daniela's geographic formation is stunning on its own. It is a mini-peninsula - a sandy tip with greenery - that stretches out onto the sea, moving forward over the water.
A community where luxury residences mingle with traditional homes that retain peace of mind for those looking to stay away from the excessive tourist traffic. It is bathed by the calm and warm waters of the north bay, perfect for those who frequent the beach with children and the elderly.
There are few services in the area. There, leisure is to walk along the beach, fish and brave the natural beauties that the mangrove, the main plant formation of the area, hides it. Trendy, parties, and more tourist traffic are located on nearby beaches, within easy reach by car.
The region is characterized as a sandy tip, light and fine color, approximately 3.5 km long and wide, ranging from 3 to 15 meters.
The sea has bay characteristics, with little waves and pleasant waters, favorable to bathing all year round. The northern portion of Daniela Beach faces the mainland region, where the Municipality of Governador Celso Ramos is located. The border with Praia do Forte is made by sets of small shores with stones crisscrossed by 3 small stretches of sand.
On the other hand, the part of the beach that faces the south, faces the sea towards the Ratones Islands and forms the estuary where the Ratones River opens. This area is covered in mangrove, with a muddy background, with high salinity.
This formation takes place through a natural system that permanently feeds the point. Sea currents leaving from Ponta das Canas and Canasvieiras bring sand, which is blocked by the exit of the Ratones River, creating a natural deposit.
At this point of the beach, a lot of attention is advised with children and adults with little experience with swimming, as there is a strong submerged current that can drag bathers into the middle of the canal, far from the beach. There is only lifeguard monitoring during the summer season.
It was once a region of little importance to the ancients. There were no inhabitants, just some fishermen looking for shrimp, crab and berbigão. These animals are found in this area precisely because they are developing in mangrove areas. It's also for this reason that housing has never been sought after – the ground is muddy and very humid.
In the early 1970s, the city approved the subdivision of the region, despite violating Article 2 of the forest code, which states that mangrove stabilizing and dune-fixing regions should be preserved.
The person responsible for the urbanization project was João Prudencio de Amorim, who at the time owned a real estate agency that served in the cities of Florianópolis and Biguaçu. Plates were organized for the construction of real estate, streets and plazas.
From this moment on, Pontal beach has been called Daniela's Balneario, named after one of the grandchildren of Prudencio de Amorim.
