Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Enjoy a vintage Rocky Mountain adventure at 9000 feet, while overlooking views of the Continental Divide. This 1960s A-Frame is perfect for your outdoor fun. Enjoy the original charm and snow-capped views, but with modern amenities like wi-fi and indoor plumbing. You will need a 4WD high clearance vehicle in winter, and a comfort level with mountain driving. This is an older home and only a good fit for up to 4, experienced, groovy travelers. Please be accurate with guest #- cost is per guest.

The space
Our mountain home is a good fit for travelers who:
-want a home base to enjoy nearby hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, rafting, kayaking, or horseback riding
-want to plan fun day trips, less than an hour away, to Boulder, Golden, Idaho Springs, or Black Hawk, or plan for a little more than an hour away, to Red Rocks, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, or Rocky Mountain National Park
-want to hike or bike around our neighborhood and enjoy great views
-want to relax in a quiet, remote location with amazing views
-don't mind shoveling snow between your vehicle and the front door when the mountain weather is in full force
-want to enjoy a vintage home and don't mind the quirks that come with it
-don't mind taking quick showers due to the water shortage and restrictions
-have a 4WD high clearance vehicle and are comfortable driving in the mountains (our neighbors like their solitude, and are not available to help with directions or stuck vehicles)
-enjoy cooking, or don't mind being a 15 minute mountain drive from the closest restaurants in Nederland

Please be aware of the following before booking:
-to access the loft, you must climb the original, metal, spiral staircase, which has NO RAILING and limited head space (I am 53 and have no issues with it whatsoever, but I have friends who won't go near it. It would not be safe for children, and some adults may not feel comfortable.)
-the hot tub does not fill the entire sunken deck space, so it is not suitable for children who could fall into the space
-you cannot bring extra people or pets, or have visitors
-there is NO washer available- it has been disconnected due to the water conservation restrictions
-the bedroom is small, and the bed is packed tightly against the wall
-the drive to the house is uphill on mountain roads
-there is nothing in walking distance except beautiful views
-there will be snow, and sometimes blizzards, during the winter

Almost all of our wonderful guests over the past 10 years, have found our mountain A-Frame to be the perfect vacation for them, but it is not a good fit for everyone. Please read all of the information, and reach out with any questions before booking. There is a difference between a 5 star hotel, and a 5 star vacation experience, and we want to make sure you are picking the right property so that you can have the best vacation ever.

Our quiet mountain neighborhood has amazing views of the Continental Divide. We have another rental property across the driveway, but it can still be described as feeling remote. We are 15 minutes from the mountain town of Nederland, which has cute shops, great restaurants, a historical working carousel and the closest laundromat. Please note that our home is on top of a mountain, which can present challenges. Services are not always easily and readily available, and in the winter, we often get 500 inches of snow. Our plow service plows regularly, but it is possible to be snowed in until he gets to us. There will likely be snow shoveling on or near the porch. You will need a 4WD with high clearance for most of the winter, and it is not a good idea to have a morning flight. Our home is a great fit for adventurous travelers.
