Getaway to this authentic log cabin hidden in the woods on the shores of Lake Michigan. Just one hour drive from downtown Chicago. Perfect for families, friends, remote work & to get away from it all and be in nature.

Nestled in a forest, the cabin built in 1932 has 4 charming bedrooms which sleep 8 people. Two living areas with a beautiful stone fireplace.

A new kitchen with SMEG & ILVE Appliances and everything you need to cook up a feast.

And an outdoor fire pit for those cold nights.

The space
The Buffalo House is a log cabin built in 1932 and was the first prototype of a log home in the village. It is designed and decorated with an antique look and feel of an old hunting cabin from the 1930's and there are a lot of fun things throughout the cabin.

The main room has a lot of taxidermy on the walls & the animals have been there for years. Long before we took ownership of this charming home.

The cabin is built over two floors. The main floor is accessible by the front steps, or from the driveway around the side of the cabin and three steps at the back door. On the main floor are the four bedrooms, the main room, a bathroom, kitchen, screened in porch and a back porch.

We have seating and tables throughout the cabin. We have a dedicated workspace/desk and a number of other tables to work from. With hi speed wifi. We also have a games cupboard full of games and puzzles. And nearly every New Yorker jigsaw puzzle ever made. And two tv's. With full cable.

You can access the basement from the driveway or the internal staircase. The basement has a second bathroom - separate shower & toilet. And a laundry with brand new LG washer and dryer and another fridge if it is needed. There is also a table and storage area in the basement.

For the kids we have a trampoline in the back garden and we also have use of the tree house. The tree house is owned by our neighbors but they are happy for our guests to use it.

Michiana has a new kids park a few streets away with a basketball court, tennis courts and pickle ball courts. We also have a pickle ball set for you to use. The kids love it.

For beach access you can use the beaches down the stairs on the lake in Michiana. You can access all of these beaches from Lake Shore Drive. The beach at Stop 41 is closed due to the lake levels, but the other 'stops' are open.

Enjoy your time in this special place. We are happy to share it with our guests so they can experience the same Michigan magic that we do.
