Where you’ll be

Cerqueira César, São Paulo, Brazil

The expansive Jardins district is famous for its international restaurants, with trendy sushi bars and French bistros on the sophisticated Oscar Freire street and surrounding area. Nearby, tree-lined streets boast chic boutiques and small shopping malls with designer boutiques. Cultural points of interest include the Museum of Image and Sound with cutting-edge multimedia exhibitions and the Museum of the Brazilian House, which presents the national design from the 17th century to the present.

Avenida Paulista is one of the most important places in the municipality of São Paulo, the capital of the homonymous state. It is located at the border between the Central-South, Central and West zones; and in one of the highest regions of the city, called Espigão da Paulista. Considered one of the main financial centers of the city, as well as one of its most characteristic tourist spots [2], the avenue reveals its importance not only as an economic pole, but also as a cultural and entertainment center.

The avenue has many restaurants that receive thousands of people who live and work in the area daily. In it is located the prestigious Art Museum of São Paulo, the MASP, established on 7 de Abril street, where before was the Belvedere Trianon, land donated to the city with the requirement that the view not be obstructed. The museum was established in its new headquarters on November 7, 1968, being inaugurated by the Queen of the United Kingdom, Elisabeth II, in the presence of the then governor Roberto Costa de Abreu Sodré and Mrs. Maria do Carmo de Abreu Sodré. The Antiquities Fair of MASP has been open since 1979, being organized by the Antiquaries Association of the State of São Paulo (AAESP) and takes place in the museum's free space, on Sundays, from 10: 00 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m. It gathers artifacts and war uniforms, decorations, photographic cameras, porcelain, crystals, jewelry, silverware, among many other items.[9]

It is also located in the avenue the Park Tenente Siqueira Campos, also known as Park Trianon. It has wide pedestrian lanes and is served by the Brigadeiro, Trianon-Masp, Consolação (Line 2-Green) and Paulista (Line 4-Yellow) stations of the São Paulo Metro. In Praça Oswaldo Cruz, where the avenue begins, on the side of the Subprefecture of Vila Mariana (the other side belongs to the Cathedral), there is a beautiful sculpture of the Indian Fisherman. In Praça Marechal Cordeiro de Farias, at the end of the avenue, in its centenary, in 1991, the sculpture Arcos ou Caminho (also called Metal Rainbow) was commissioned from visual artist Lilian Amaral and Architect Jorge Bassani, composed of 12 colorful arches, following a three-dimensional sequence that explores the space, which allows the audience to pass between the arches. There is also Praça do Ciclista, a space located in the central construction site of Paulista Avenue, between Rua Bela Cintra and Rua da Consolação, and was created in 2007 by the then mayor Gilberto Kassab.[10][11] In 2017, two more cultural centers were inaugurated: Japan House dedicated to Japanese culture and the Moreira Salles Institute.[12][13][14] In 2018, Sesc Paulista Avenue was reopened. Closed in 2010 for renovation, the unit was designed by architects Konigsberger and Vannucchi. Sesc's action in the region is pioneering, where integrated leisure, culture and sport activities were carried out since the 1950s in an old mansion located at the end of the avenue.
