The Caen Conservatory Memorial

L’Abbaye aux H hommes - Caen
This is what Guillaume Le Conqueror cost his wedding with Mathilde de Flandres, his distant cousin. In order to compensate the Duke of Normandy, the Duke of Normandy founded this Abbey in 1063, where his tomb is now home to his femur, the ultimate relic ! 950 years later, as you walk through the immense white nave, you will take full measure of the epic epic journey of the king of England.

Colleville-sur-Mer American Cemetery
An Olympic setting for hero's rest. Overlooking the immense beach of Omaha Beach, the American cemetery of Normandy is home to the tombs of 9 387 American soldiers who fell during the Battle of Normandy. So much emotion in view of these white marble templates that are aligned as far as the eye can see on the grass carpet, or attending the daily color ceremony.

The Old Bassin d 'Honfleur
It has plenty of color, a city that impressed the impressionist painters so much! It's hard not to capsize for these tall, clever houses that surround its Old Basin, or one of its historic buildings that have passed so many centuries. Stroll through the Garden of Personality, and push all the way to Notre-Dame de Grâce church for an unobstructed view of Honfleur.

The Basilica of Lisieux
Elevated on a hillside above Lisieux, the imposing basilica lives up to the fervor of Sainte-Thérèse, to whom it pays tribute. A second place for pilgrimage to France after Lourdes, the site attracts the world, and is amazed by its composting style. Often compared to the Sacré-Coeur of Paris, it is one of the largest churches built in the 20th century.

The medieval city of Bayeux
From cobblestone alleys to old-framed wood-framed houses, chic mansions to the meanders of the Aure that runs through it, Bayeux knows how to charm its world. A city of culture and stories, it is world renowned for its cathedral, architectural gem, and 11th-century tapestry, registered in the UNESCO Memory of the World: 70 meters from the oldest comic book in the world !

Les Planches de Deauville
It's a 643 meter wide walk, where the celebrities of the American Film Festival of Deauville walk in September and the rest of the time lovers from all over the world… The boards of Deauville, made up of impeccable exotic wood, allowed the ladies to walk on the long sandy beach, just there, without dirtying their dresses.

Les Rochers de la Houle, Switzerland Normandy
Get high in Switzerland Normandy. The village of Saint-Omer is a hotspot for nature sports (paragliding, hang gliding, climbing, kayaking, hiking...) and a must-see stop on the well named Route des Crêtes, where you can admire the geological formations of the Rochers de la Houle. Grandiose views of the Normandy mountains and the Clécy Valley, labeled Calvados Village with character.

Château de Falaise
The birthplace of William the Conqueror, the birthplace of the Anglo-Norman dynasty, is now reviving thanks to the touch tablets distributed on site : they reproduce the surroundings and colors that were present at the time in the various rooms of the majestic medieval building. A fantastic journey back in time, where the characters who lived through history tell you.

The fishing port of Port-en-Bessin-Huppain Port-en-Bessin-Huppain
lives to the rhythm of the ballet of boats coming back to the port, the choreography well oiled with crates of scallops and other fish unloaded on the docks. Next door, the fish market invites you to appreciate its delicious hustle and bustle. Finally, climb the few steps that separate you from the Vauban Tower, for a complete picture of this traditional harbor nestled between two towering cliffs.

The Abbaye-aux-Hommes comprises: the abbey of Saint-Etienne (11th, 13th, 17th centuries) housing the tomb of William the Conqueror, the convent buildings (18th century), today City Hall, the cloister and the Guards Hall (14th century), former ceremonial hall and current hall of the municipal council A few meters further, you will find St Saviour's Square (recently completely restored) where the market is held on Friday mornings. You will also find many small restaurants typical of old Caen directly down the street where the apartment is located. Place des petits butcheries: Place des petits butcheries is the crossroads of four important roads: Rue Caponière (to the south), Rue de Bayeux and Rue St Martin (the latter two follow the route of the old Roman road linking the suburb of St Julien to Bayeux), and Rue Guillaume-le-Conquérant. Before the town planning operations carried out in the 18th century, the only access to the Bourg-le-Roi from this square (and from the west of the city in general) was via rue St Martin, then via the porte St Martin (see marking at the top of rue Pémagnie)

You will find all the shops nearby (beginner, grocer, butcher...) offering very good products.
Caen's biggest market is held on Sunday morning at Place Courtonne.
The location is ideal for discovering and enjoying Caen.
