Bansha is located on the N24 linking the cities of Limerick and Waterford and is 8 km south-east of Tipperary Town. The village is strategically located on the eastern approaches to the Glen of Aherlow, which forms a large part of the parish as do the Galtee Mountains (spelt Galty Mountains on Ordnance Survey maps), which has the highest inland mountain peak in Ireland, Galtymore (917 metres).

Cahir Farmers Market, located at the Castle Carpark in Cahir, hosts stallholders specialising in vegetarian goodies, fresh baked bread and savoury bread, home-made baking, freshly made crepes, meat stalls, apple farm stall with seasonal fruits, juices, cider vinegar, fish stall, and more. Most stalls are sold out completely within two hours so visitors are recommended to get there early. The market takes place every Saturday from 09:00-13:00.
