Nest@Waterton Hall is Winner of LuxLife 2022 Resort & Retreat Awards (Best Modern Heritage Accommodation), built in the Waterton Hall Shiraz Vineyard. Combining old-world charm of the historic Ironing Room with new build King Bedroom, Kitchen/Dining Area, Bathroom, outdoor deck & carport overlooking the Tamar River. Nest is perfect for 1 or 2 couples, or a couple with 1 child. It has a modular Queen bed in the separate Living Room.

The space
The captivating historic Ironing Room is at the heart of the Nest experience. It features a modular sofa in the Living Room which folds out to a comfortable Queen bed to accommodate another couple or 1 child (for extra fee) Unfortunately Nest is not suitable for toddlers. Picture yourself by the wood heater, stacked with split firewood opening you complimentary Waterton Hall Riesling & enjoying the provided mini cheese & fruit platter by the fire.
After luxuriating in the Slumberland Plush King bed, (in separate King Bedroom), and the walk-in shower, savour your provided breakfast of local bacon, eggs & bread.
You'll rest easy knowing that Nest@Waterton Hall is sustainable and eco-friendly - harvesting solar power and managing waste water. It was built connecting a historic building that was relocated to the Nest site and a new build using Tasmanian sustainable timber and Tasmanian manufactured windows, by local builders.

Nest is in the Tamar Valley Wine region, one of the top 10 Great Wine Drives in the world. It is situated at Waterton Hall, an historic estate set in magnificent heritage gardens on the Tamar River at Rowella, 40 minutes drive north of Launceston, an hour from Launceston Airport. With 25 acres of vines, producing Award-winning Shiraz, Viognier, and Riesling and newly available in 2022 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, a stay at Waterton Hall is on every wine lover’s bucket list. Walkable within 0.5 km from Nest is The Lavender Farm, Iron Pot Bay Vineyard and Holm Oak Cellar Doors. Within 12 km Goaty Hill, Loira, Winterbrook, Swinging Gate, Glendale and Moore’s Hill Cellar Doors. Several of these neighbouring vineyards have lunches daily or on weekends.
Launceston is thriving foodies paradise 40 mins away on the East Tamar Highway across the Batman Bridge. Boasting a Saturday morning Harvest Market and numerous quality restaurants - Still Water, Mud, Black Cow, Geronimo, Mei Tai, Grain@SiloHotel - we recommend it to foodies and walkers who enjoy Cataract Gorge. Children love the exciting new Riverbend adventure playground. Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm Top 20 Golf Courses are an hour away on the East Tamar. Local town Beaconsfield boasts all stores and services including butcher, baker, newsagent, Post Office, Chemist, Doctor, two supermarkets. Moonlily Cafe and Cakes opens 6:30am 6 mornings a week for quality breakfasts, visit the Mine & Heritage Centre, and in nearby Beauty Point, Seahorse World. Fancy a longer drive? Hillwood Berry Farm, 20km, in season, for pick your own berries and a berry-inspired cafe menu. Gravelly Beach 20km for a super playground, and 2 cafes and a pizza shop nearbyPaper Beach and Supply River Reserve for walking.

Nest guests, as an option, can book exclusive access to the historic Waterton Hall grounds, and gardens on a self-guided walking tour. Finish up at the Waterton Hall Boathouse for Shiraz, a cheese platter and fire-pit experience following your walk. This is an exclusive opportunity to experience Waterton Hall, which does not have a Cellar Door and is not otherwise open to the public. Furthermore, if you wish to take any of our Award Winning wines home with you, or drink more delicious Waterton Hall wines whilst at Nest, you can place wine orders and have your wine delivered to Nest, or sent to the mainland.
