The newly built cottage is on the edge of our yard and overlooks the extensive reed fields of National Park de Weerribben. The large windows give you the feeling that you are part of the adjacent nature with a diversity of animals in their natural habitat. An ideal base for hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers. With the accompanying canoes, you can go straight up the water via the backyard to follow one of the canoe routes or simply experience the peace and space.

The space
The nature cottage has its own private entrance and there is plenty of privacy. The hall gives access to all rooms. One bedroom with a double bed ( or 2 single beds). A bathroom with toilet, shower and sink furniture. The room is tastefully decorated and contemporary. The open kitchen has a fridge with freezer compartment, induction hob, oven and dishwasher. The large windows with garden doors to the backyard offer a view of one of the most special areas of the Netherlands. The loft offers an even wider view. There is no balustrade so entering is at your own risk. The cottage has underfloor heating throughout and the windows/garden doors are fitted with mosquito nets.

Where you’ll be

Kalenberg, Overijssel, Netherlands

The Weerribben Wieden National Park is one of the larger peat bogs in northwestern Europe. The special patterns in the area were created by humans. In the past, people worked hard, the peat was cut and the reeds mowed. The Kalenberger reed is still known at home and abroad. The bridges, windmills and idyllic houses are unique. At a short distance you will find, among other things, the characteristic Giethoorn, the fortified town of Steenwijk, the Colonies of Benevolence and in the Natura-2000 area Holtingerveld near Havelte you can visit Hunebeds.
