The Guesthouse is about 90 m2 main floor (3 rooms with 5 beds), and optional (rented separately) 2 rooms (4 beds) on the ground floor. The house is situated in the center of the old village, with a view over the harbour. Built in 1911, but renewed and owned by the original family as a second home.

The space
The Guesthouse at Fjarðargata 10 is 90 sqm main floor, with fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, a bathtub and 3 bedrooms (5 beds) and a spacious living room overlooking the harbour.
Optional there is a 50 sqm basement, which holds two double-bed bedrooms that are also rented out separately as another listing on Airbnb, except the guests order for more than 5 people.
It is situated in the center of Thingeyri village, very close to all amenities. The house was originally built in 1911 and is known in the village as "Þorbergshúsið", ("The House of Thorbergur"), named after a famous skipper who built it for himself and his family. His son, Leifur, who was also a skipper took over the house after Thorbergur and lived there with his family. Now again the house owned by Thorbergur grandchildren, who were brought up in the house.

This is a very charming small old fishing village with lot of beautiful nature around it. Lot of breathtaking hiking (Kaldbakur) and driving trails (Svalvogar Kjaransbraut).

Old machinery workshop that has been turned into a museum with all he original equipments.

A swimming pool, and a trendy coffee house, Simbahöllinn across the street. A museum of Iceland independence leader Jón Sigurðsson nearby. A viking area and a viking ship and an old botanic garden Skrúður.

I am an Civil Engineer living in Reykjavík, but was born and raised in the house we are renting out at Þingeyri village. Working in hydropower planning.

During your stay

The guests have the main floor private, but might have to share the washing machine and the dryer all located in the basement with potential other renters of the 2 rooms in the basement, except they reserve for 8 or nine people.
