Our cosy detached stone Cwtch is situated in beautiful West Wales, just two miles from the stunning coastline of Cardigan Bay - a perfect location for local beaches and walks.

Situated in Caerwedros, a coastal hamlet between Llangrannog & New Quay, you’ll find a wonderfully comfortable bed, sofa & breakfast prep area with fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave.

With an easy-to-use woodburning stove and all logs supplied, there is also a dog-friendly fully enclosed garden with outdoor seating.

Why Glamp when you can Cwtch?

The Cwtch At Caerwedros is an detached stone building which was originally used as a 19th Century laundry for the house. With a lofty vaulted ceiling, mezzanine and wood burning stove, it provides a romantic, comfortable base with a cwtchy vintage vibe - ideal for short breaks in the stunningly beautiful West Wales coastal county of Ceredigion.

Furnished with upcycled and vintage furniture, including original enamel advertising signs, the space is stylish whilst still retaining that home-from-home feeling which embraces you when you return from a long day kayaking, cycling, relaxing on the beach or walking the coastal path.

After you've come back from a day exploring, light the woodburner and cwtch up on the sofa with a good book, listen to the DAB radio or grab some tv time before snuggling up under the super comfortable king size feather duvet and dreaming of your next day's adventures. The Cwtch has double glazing and is fully insulated so stays beautifully warm once the fire is lit. There is a warm ambience from the use of Farrow and Ball paints, soft furnishings, vintage and upcycled furniture and of course that fireside glow.

Our Wifi is suitable for most purposes including streaming radio services. Mobile signal is very patchy, but stronger signal is available locally and additionally most cafes and pubs have free wifi.

One well-behaved and cat-friendly pet is welcome, subject to a £20 cleaning charge per stay. Please tick the appropriate box when booking to add your pet.

There is a fully enclosed garden around The Cwtch, which is set within our beautifully peaceful mature tree-lined garden. Your dog may be allowed off the lead within the enclosed Cwtch garden area. You may wish to collect some freshly-laid eggs laid by our hens to take home with you, in addition to some honey from the bees who also live in the garden.

We are proudly 'plastic-free', using eco-friendly products and items in our welcome packs. Instead of commercially-produced plastic-wrapped items, we offer our guests options which support local businesses.

The Cwtch is a perfect base for your visit to the area, and is most suitable for guests who want to get up and go after a good night’s sleep, a quick cuppa and a shower. There are so many amazing places to eat out and to see and do locally you won’t want to hang around! There aren't full cooking facilities, just a microwave and toaster, so please don't expect to cook meals during your stay.

Where you’ll be

Bring your walking boots, swimming stuff, boards, kayaks, SUP or bikes and enjoy our little piece of heaven in beautiful West Wales.

We are close enough to the coast to be central to all the best beaches, places to visit and for easy walks directly to the coastal path, but far enough away from the traffic and crowds of some the coastal villages in high tourist season.

Numerous local walks from the door take to you the coastal path where you can head North to New Quay, or South to Cwmtydu and Llangrannog, depending on how far you like to walk! Our most local beaches of Cwmtydu, and the 'Secret' beaches of Castell Bach and Cwm Silio/Traeth Soden may be reached on foot via footpaths through National Trust land where the rare Pearl Bordered Fritillary Butterfly can be found in its protected valley environment.

The beautiful local beaches of Llangrannog, Tresaith, New Quay and Aberporth are just a short drive away. Perfect for some water-based action or simply relaxation. Most local beaches are dog-friendly all year round, the only exceptions being Mwnt, Penbryn and New Quay North Beach from May to September.

There are plenty of local foodie treats to be had - woodfired pizzas, craft beers, breakfasts, lunches, cakes, pasties...you won't go hungry! Lots of information for our local recommendations are contained in the online welcome guide that all guests receive prior to their visit.

The neighbouring village of Cross Inn (15 minutes walk/2 minutes drive) has a mini supermarket and a village shop for basic staples. There is also a cafe/coffee shop in the old school. We have a taxi service based in Caerwedros if you'd like a special meal out with no driving. All details are given in the downloadable guide sent to all guests prior to arrival.

The pretty harbour towns of New Quay and Aberaeron are just a few minutes drive away. Aberaeron has chic harbourside cafes and restaurants, and prettily painted houses, while New Quay has cafes with seaside views to die for, fish and chips and ice creams to enjoy on the harbour wall, and pubs offering tempting food throughout the day.

Llangrannog has cafes, pubs and a pizza parlour on the beach, while the quieter and lesser-known Tresaith and Aberporth have pubs with stunning views of the amazing coastline. These beautiful sandy beaches are about 20 minutes drive from us. Aberystwyth, with a wider range of shops and restaurants is 45 minutes to the north.

Artisan makers locally include two gin distilleries, cheese makers and heavenly brownies.

There is large community of sea swimmers in the area, including ourselves, so bring your bathers for a bracing dip, no matter what time of the year you visit!

I live in beautiful West Wales with my partner, Justin, in our lovely home near to the stunning Cardigan Bay coast. I'm a scientist (my PhD concerned the use of natural plant products, including seaweeds, as protein stabilisers). I'm passionate about gardening, sewing, but most of all the beach and seaweed. I’ve extended my love of the sea to embrace year-round cold water swimming with a group of like-minded (mainly) women. Lover of dogs and cats; the perfect day is a swim or a walk on the beach with friends and a dog or two, followed by a relaxing evening in front of the fire.

During your stay

We both love sea swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking, and are always happy to share local information with our guests!

We are usually around to advise on beach visits, places to eat and drink and where to find our fabulous local beaches.

At weekends or during summer evenings we may be at home working in the garden or on the house - sometimes this may be work such as lawn mowing or woodworking activities. Basically we carry on with our usual routines when guests are with us. We require access to the area around The Cwtch at all times for access to our garage so you will be very likely to see us when you are staying, including early in the mornings.
We both love sea swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking, and are always happy to share local information with our guests!
