The property is ideal for people seeking perfect quiet and privacy. This beautiful wooden cottage is perched above green lawns and pond with views across the fields from the front veranda, and into the rainforest from the wide shaded back deck.

It’s a great base for boating on the Myall Lakes, kayaking, hiking in the forest, surfing at nearby Seal Rocks, bird watching, or just snuggling down in front of a warm fire with a book.

The space
The house was imported as a kit from Indonesia in the 1980s, and is ideally suited to catch the breeze and provide wide shaded indoor/outdoor spaces to sit, eat, read, and watch the birds.

There are three large bedrooms, each with ceiling fans, a large sitting and dining room, with a wood burning stove which keeps the whole house cosy in the winter.

The kitchen is large and fully equipped, with all the gear you will need to cook up a storm.

There is one modern bathroom with a walk-in shower and a full-sized bath, plus an additional loo in the laundry, and also a hot shower outside in the garden for those who really want to connect with nature!

Where you’ll be

Boolambayte, New South Wales, Australia

The property is on the edge of the Myall Lakes National Park, a chain of beautiful fresh water lakes with sandy beaches ideal for swimming, water skiing, sailing and kayaking. Unfortunately because of the recent floods many access points are closed at the moment.

For surfing and beachcombing, Seal Rocks and Treachery Beach are under half an hour away. Blueys and Elizabeth Beaches are a 40 minute drive, and Forster is the nearest resort town. For walkers Booti Booti National Park has a challenging three-hour walk which is great for whale watching.

The property is surrounded by farmland and forest, with national parks walks through towering rainforest, and the Grandis, the tallest tree in NSW a short drive away.

The area has its own winery, in the nearby town of Wootton.

For supplies, and the nearest pub lunch, the tiny town of Bulahdelah is less than 15 minutes drive away.

During your stay

We have prepared a guide to walks and activities in the area, and some of the not to be missed experiences in this beautiful part of Australia.

The house is 15 minutes drive from Bulahdelah, 40 minutes from Forster, and 30 minutes to Seal Rocks. If you have a boat, there’s plenty of room to park it here, and the best boat ramp in the Myall Lakes National Park is just down the road at Violet Hill Camp Ground. So you can spend the day on the lakes, and come home to a warm house and comfortable beds in the evening.
