Great location
93% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Our guesthouse is in the spectacular Sonoran Desert just 20 miles NW of central Tucson. This quiet rural area surrounded by Catalina State Park and Coronado National Forest offers excellent hiking, biking and birdwatching.
We have 2 acres of natural desert, with a wash, and lushly planted sitting areas around the House and Casita. More than 20 nectar and feeding stations, as well as multiple water features, create a bird Oasis.
We also have easy access to stores, restaurants, and downtown.

The space
Casita Verde means "Little Green House". Painted a soft green to blend in with its desert surroundings and surrounded by trees and shrubs the casita is separate and private from the main house. The space is bright and cheerful with large windows and two skylights for lots of natural light. The furnishings and decor are chosen with comfort, convenience and aesthetics in mind.

In the casita you will enjoy:
- 400 sq. feet of self contained living space decorated in contemporary southwest style
-Queen bed with extra pillows and down comforter (down alternative
available-please ask prior to arrival)
-Smart TV with basic cable service
- Kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, multiple coffee makers including a French press, and an electric hot water kettle
- Freshly ground coffee and an assortment of teas to welcome you
- Basic condiments to get you started: sugar & honey, mayo & mustard, oil & vinegar, salt & pepper
- Bathroom with shower; thick fluffy towels and bathroom amenities

Outside the casita is your private outdoor shade ramada with table and chairs and a gas BBQ exclusively for guest use.

The casita is surrounded by natural desert landscape with stunning views of mountain ranges to the east, north and south. From the 180 degree view of the western horizon watch our beautiful Arizona sunsets and see the sparkling night time lights in the valley below. In this peaceful retreat you're invited to wander our desert garden and watch the abundant bird and wildlife show. Bird feeders and fountains around the property draw a variety of hummingbirds, Gambrel's Quail, Cardinals, Pyrrhuloxia, Phainopepla, Abert's Towhee, Cactus Wrens, Roadrunners, Verdins, woodpeckers, finches, hawks, bunnies, lizards, and many more! At night listen for the coyotes and owls.

From our property it is 1/4 mile to the trailhead for the "50 YearTrail". Popular Catalina State Park is 5 miles south.
To the north you'll find the Biosphere, and Oracle State Park. Hiking, biking and bird watching are easily accessible activities in this beautiful area.

2 miles away is a shopping center with a major supermarket, a post office, and local restaurants and businesses. Within a 15-20 minute drive you will find major stores, a multi-screen cinema, and excellent restaurants with a variety of cuisines.

We managed a very nice seasonal inn for 15 years, which is located on an island in Maine. We have been spending our winters in Tucson for 18 years. Our passions are hiking and working on our extensive garden, which is a collection of hundreds of native plants and trees. We really enjoy cooking and sharing our place with friends and guests, especially at sunset.
