This is a unique, comfortable, fully kitted, self-catering house sleeping 8/10 people. Hidden in a quiet corner of our working farm it overlooks a pristine section of the Wilge River, with the famous waterfall and Nelson's Kop mountain providing spectacular scenery. Guests will be able to enjoy absolute peace, uninterrupted views and walks in almost every direction.

Please note that the property is remote and the last 200m of the access road will require a high clearance vehicle.

The space
This is a unique wooden house set in a spectacular remote setting. There are 3 bedrooms en-suite (one is a family room sleeping 2 adults and 2 children) and a further double bedroom and additional shower-room. The spacious living areas comprise 2 dining areas, 2 sitting rooms and a fully kitted kitchen. Two decks provide ample outdoor recreational space, complemented by a large natural rock pool. An extensive library upstairs houses an excellent Africana book collection, other modern reading material and board games.
Three covered, tiled garages provide direct access to the house.

Where you’ll be

Van Reenen, Free State, South Africa

Our cottage is situated on the upper reaches of the Wilge River which is the main tributary of the Vaal. We are exactly half way between Durban and Jhb, 12 kms from the N3. Our neighbour is Oaklands Country Manor. They are well known as a fine food destination and, if not too full with in- house guests, take lunch and dinner bookings. They can also provide supervised horse rides at an additional charge if they’re not too busy. The famous Green Lantern Inn in Van Reenen has a great bar and provides good, wholesome meals. Charmaine at Maharaj's cafe at the garage on the N3 makes fabulous curries and will take orders.
The cottage is close to the Eskom Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme and De Beers Pass. Both are worth a visit.
Bring fishing rods and swimming towels. There are miles of unexplored and little used gravel roads in the vicinity for mountain-bike or running enthusiasts.
