Smugglers was once an old stable attached to the back of our house. It’s still linked to the house, but is self contained. It’s unusual shapes and fixtures make it very quirky and would suit people that like something a bit different. There is a main double bed and a mezzanine deck ideal for relaxing on. The little kitchen allows you to stay in and cook for yourself if you fancy a cozy night in. The courtyard in front of smugglers can be used for bbq’s if the weather is kind!

The space
You could be mistaken for thinking that smugglers is tiny from the front entrance, but it stretches right back and to the side. With high ceilings and roof windows the space has a light and airy feel.

Where you’ll be

Isle of Wight, England, United Kingdom

Freshwater Bay is a friendly neighbourhood where most people know each other.
Smugglers is just down the road from the pretty thatched church and about five minutes walk from the beach. It’s a stony beach, but good for swimming (bring some beach shoes and sun cream - as it’s a real sun trap under the brilliant white cliffs).
There’s also a bus stop just up the road and open top bus does tours of the area.
The quaint little harbour town of Yarmouth is only five minutes away by car or you could take a beautiful walk along the causeway and through the nature reserve. It will take about an hour and is well worth the effort.
Alum Bay and the Neddles lighthouse is a good walk over the downs or a bus trip away. It’s one of the most photographed places in the world!

We have a passion for recycling, up cycling and just love making things out of junk! My wife, Julie and I are easy going and friendly and we like to make the studio cosy and inviting. We both really enjoy beach combing for materials on the remotest parts of the islands beaches along with our two dogs. We go away in our camper whenever we can, exploring with no fixed destination and always seem to end up somewhere lovely! We don't watch a lot of telly as in the summer it's too nice outside and it the winter we'd sooner sit by the open fire and chat, playing cards.

During your stay

We always like a chat with our guests, but appreciate that some people just need some time away with peace and quiet.
