Our house provides a peaceful farm getaway while still offering lots of local attractions. Convenient to wineries, farm markets, the Flying Circus, and Shenandoah National Park. We are a little over a mile from Great Marsh Estate, so this is a great place to stay if you are in town for an event there. We are also a very convenient stop-off for those heading from DC towards the TransAmerica Bike Trail.

No pets allowed. We have another listing on the property that does allow pets.

The space
The space includes a fully stocked kitchen, open living/dining space, and an outdoor deck.

The bedroom has a queen-size bed with a brand new memory foam mattress. There is a pocket door that separates the living space from the bedroom. The bathroom is on the bedroom side of the pocket door.

The bathroom has radiant heating to keep your toes toasty on cold days. The shower is spacious and has a handheld sprayer and seat, making it great for those with mobility issues or if you need to bathe small children. We offer shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

The living room has a brand new sofa bed. There is one television in the living room with a Roku so you can easily sign in to your own streaming services. We have high speed internet for all your workation and internet needs. The apartment also has a DVD player, a small DVD collection, and games to help you stay entertained.

The kitchen includes a toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, crockpot, pots and pans, cutlery, knives, cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, and Tupperware containers. We provide coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, some spices, and some condiments in the fridge.

We offer some toys, a sandbox outside, a pack n' play, and a travel changing pad in case you are traveling with little ones. Our pool is open mid-May to October and is shared by us and another studio apartment AirBnB on the property. We have also included some camping chairs and a cooler which you are welcome to take on an adventure to one of our local wineries or set up for your enjoyment on our farm.

This apartment is a private space, but still attached to our home with a shared front porch (like a duplex). All of the photos in the listing interior are private and not shared with us. We have a washer and dryer in the basement of our home which is solely for guest use. You just have to walk around to the back of the house to use it.

Our property includes 8 acres of open fields and 6 acres of woods. Hydrangeas and deciduous holly hedges add some color to the scenery. Overhead, we often see old-timey bi-planes, ultralights, sky-divers, and hot air balloons which adds some whimsy to our lives.

There is space for one car next to the entrance of the apartment and there is room for more cars around the back of the house.

If you need more room, let us know. We have an additional bedroom and bathroom in our basement by the laundry room that we can add on for an additional fee.

We built this energy-efficient home largely by ourselves. We are very proud of it and happy to share it with guests.

There is a shopping center 2 miles from our house which has a Walgreens, Food Lion, Anytime Fitness, and some restaurants. Messick's Farm Market is less than a mile from our house and offers lots of u-pick crops throughout the year and an awesome play place for kids. Messick's is also a great place to pick up some soups, pies, ice cream, and other local foods. Great Marsh Estate is a little more than a mile from our house. Poplar Springs and Morais are two other wedding venues that are within a fifteen minutes drive. There are three wineries (Molon Lave, Granite Heights, and Morais) and one brewery (Powers Farm & Brewery) within a 10-minute drive from our home. And you will find many more within a 30-minute drive. The Flying Air Circus is a 10-minute drive away and they offer wing- walking air shows and biplane rides on Sundays from May until October. Crockett Park is a great place for fishing on Germantown Lake - also 10 minutes from our house. Shenandoah National Park is less than an hour from our home. Note- we are in an agricultural area so occasionally you will detect manure smells and flies.

I'm a full-time working mom trying to fit in some adventure when we can. We use airbnb as a base for our adventures and as a way to put some money into our kids college funds.

During your stay

A lockbox and code will be provided so you are free to come and go. We are next door if you need anything and you may see us outside as we are often playing or doing farm things. We have chickens that are often free-ranging.
