Serene minimalist cottage directly on Lake Oscaleta with spectacular waterfront and Mountain Lakes Park behind. Quiet, isolated and lost in the trees, you feel you are in Vermont or the Adirondacks. Yet it's only 1 hour from Manhattan, 10 minutes from restaurants. Kayak, canoe, fish, paddleboard. Cottage is elegant, cozy and winterized warm and the lake is effectively empty in the fall/winter/spring. Please note: because of an asthmatic child, we cannot accept any animals.

The space
The cottage is in a minimalist, Scandinavian lake style. Light and airy, with great reading and working areas. A band of windows overlooking the lake. We love it just as much in winter as we do in summer! The kitchen is small but workable with a generous supply of cooks' tools and entertaining resources.

The 3 Lakes of Oscaleta, Waccabuc and Rippowam are a hidden treasure. Work from home surrounded by trees and light, or hop on the Metronorth train (15 minutes away to the station) and head in to New York City. Or wind around the hilly, woodsy roads and visit the quaint towns — Katonah, Bedford, Pound Ridge, South Salem, North Salem, Ridgefield — with lovely stores, restaurants, museums, and parks.

Parks: Mt. Lakes Park, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Bedford Audubon Society, Long Pond Reservation.

Restaurants: the Horse and the Hound just around the corner in South Salem, Bacio in Cross River, Purdy's Farmer and the Fish, Jean Georges' Inn at Pound Ridge, the Bedford Post Inn near Bedford, the Blue Dolphin in Katonah.

Museums/Venues: Caramoor, the Katonah Museum of Art, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Muscoot Farm, the Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden.

During your stay

We have set up the house so that you can let yourself in (and check yourself out) using the keypad on the front door and settle in without our being there. Our assumption is that you are there to get away and feel cozy and secluded not socialize with us! That being said we live nearby and you can reach us through this app, by email or by text/phone. We are on call for any questions or concerns, large or small.
