Where you’ll be

Pireas, Greece

The whole coastal front of Piraeus, a city that exists for its sake, is one of the most interesting coastal urban landscapes in Greece.
The famous Piraeus, which stretches from the area of the School of Naval Trials to the port of Zea, is a wonderful route, overlooking the Saronic Sea, which encloses the area of Freattida, the ancient coast. The route is known for its excellent restaurants and fish taverns, but also the remnants of ancient walls and small beaches.
The port of Zea is the heart of Piraeus, the lively center of the city. In it the visitor will see the Naval Museum, the remains of the ancient Neo-settlements, but also the impressive marina.
The picturesque "Mikrolimano" is the most famous part of Piraeus for those who are interested in visiting it for its excellent fish taverns. It is located east of Zea, at the foot of the historic hill of Kastella (the ancient citadel of Piraeus, Munich).
"Kastella" is probably the most beautiful district of Piraeus. A relatively steep hill, with narrow alleys, crowned at the top by a beautiful grove and the Veakeio open theater.
The Municipal Theater of Piraeus (1895) stands in Korai Square. It is an excellent example of the classicist architectural tradition and is an important landmark of Piraeus.
The only Maritime Museum in Greece is located in Marina of Zea. The museum houses ship models, representations of naval battles, nautical objects, paintings and photographs, from ancient times to the present day.

The Piraeus Archaeological Museum is located next to the archeological site of the Zea theater. The Museum houses finds from Piraeus and coastal Attica. Particularly important are the bronze statues unearthed in 1959 in Piraeus: the archaic Apollo (6th century BC), Athena of Kifissodotus and the two statues of Artemis (4th century BC)
The Old Post Office houses the Municipal Gallery of Piraeus. It exhibits works by modern Greek painters. such as Nikolaos and Periklis Lytras, Konstantinos Maleas, Konstantinos Romanidis, Michael Economou, Alexandros Christofis etc.
At the facilities of Metro/train station , at the main port houses the small and beautiful Museum of Electric Railways, with objects and photographs from the history of ISAP.(urban train Company)
