This stunning year-round three bedroom cottage is located on a private point directly overlooking the lake. You’ll love the large screened in porch, sunny deck with barbecue and complimentary propane, private dock, cozy woodstove, large modern kitchen with brand new appliances, huge bedrooms (with a king, a queen and a double bed), cedar-lined bathroom with shower, and comfortable lounge area with stunning lake views.

The space
The gorgeous, newly built Cedar Cottage is part of Northern Skies Resort, a cottage resort with eight lakeside cabins that has been part of our family for over 80 years and is now owned and operated by the fourth generation owner.

This spacious cabin features soaring ceilings, hardwood floors and locally made kitchen cabinets, all new stainless steel appliances and a washing machine and dryer. The three bedrooms are all very spacious with comfortable king, queen and double beds. We also have a crib and baby gear available for free if needed.

In spring and fall you can cozy up in front of the woodstove with a book and a beautiful view of the lake! Or head down to the beach for a swim and a campfire.

Cell coverage is very strong at the cabin and a Turbo Hub can be rented for wifi (one is available on a first come first service basis so availability cannot be guaranteed). However it's also the perfect place to disconnect completely and enjoy the peace and serenity!

At night, star gazing is unparalleled and the northern lights can sometimes be seen. The property, lake and surrounding area have plenty of opportunities for canoeing and kayaking (we provide kayaks and canoes for free), boating (we rent boats and motors), fishing, hiking and scenic drives. There is also a campfire area and large sandy beach that is available for the use of all guests.

The cabin is located in Algoma Country's famous Mississaugi Valley, named after the wild and winding river that provides a stunning scenic drive at any time of year that starts just "up the road" - we highly recommend packing a picnic and taking a day to explore this beautiful route.

This part of the province - which is Anishinaabe territory - is remote and rugged, meaning it is free of the crowds common in cottage country and provincial parks. You will have unlimited privacy on your adventures.

The cabin is also a short drive away from quaint towns, First Nations, hamlets and farming communities that are full of talented craftspeople, artists and artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations. They have all the necessities you would need in terms of groceries and basic provisions.

Hi I'm Robin!

I was raised in the wilds of Algoma and look forward to sharing my knowledge of this beautiful region with you.

As of summer 2021 my husband, our two young kids and I have taken over Northern Skies Resort (formerly Kegos Camp) from my parents - I'm the fourth generation of our family to manage this property!

We have been hosting people at the Northern Skies Backcountry Cabin since 2010 and love the opportunity to expose visitors to the peace and serenity of this amazing part of the province.

In addition to running Northern Skies Resort, I am the Founder of a local arts non profit, and currently work as an Executive Director in the charitable sector. I am also a farmer, community artist and social entrepreneur and am passionate about the intersection of the arts, community development and social justice.

I am an avid traveler and have lived in Toronto, Scotland and England.

I love to canoe, camp, read, travel, cook good food, think interesting thoughts and learn from interesting people.

During your stay

The cottage is yours alone for the duration of your stay. While the owners live offsite, we have a full time caretaker living at the resort who is available to make sure all of our guests' needs are met. He has an excellent knowledge of the lake and area and can provide guidance on things to do and see. However he will also ensure you are able to be solitary and private.
