My husband Eddie and his friend have lovingly restored a beautiful 19th Century Lock Keepers Cottage in the heart of the Cheshire Countryside, adding a yurt and shepherds hut to their grounds . It is based at Dutton Locks on the River Weaver. This is a new venture. Eddie has particularly enjoyed restoring this spectacular, historic site due to his background in Construction and Engineering and a fine attention to quality materials and build.

During your stay

This is an exceptionally beautiful location, surrounded by water, nature and the outdoors. From the house you can view many elegant canal, river and railway structures. A number of which are on the National Heritage List for England and are designated Grade II* listed buildings including the Dutton Viaduct which was designed by George Stevenson and John Locke and was the first railway viaduct outside of London.

The house is on the Weaver Way, a 40 mile-long walking route. There are further fantastic walks and cycle opportunities in the area. You can launch canoes and kayak's within 50m of the house.

It is an outstanding location for bird watching with many sightings of rare birds including a Black Kite, with over 70 different bird types spotted.

Locally you can visit the Woodland Trust Dutton Park Farm Nature Park and the spectacular Delamere Forest. Manchester, Liverpool are within easy reach. For kids, Chester Zoo is approximately 20 minutes' drive and Gulliver's World Theme Park is nearby. For shoppers, Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet and Chester City Centre are a short drive. Cheshire is full of superb restaurants and pubs. There is great pub The Leigh Arms at the end of the road, with superb hospitality and al fresco riverside dining - we highly recommend.
