Welcome to the Friday Hut - A brand-new, masterfully built studio retreat in the heart of Byron Bay complete with private outdoor bath and tropical outlook through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The ideal escape for a runaway couple or solo creative.

The space
Beloved by creatives, nature-lovers, surfers, and sunseekers, Friday Hut was designed to feel like a secluded chalet in the woods despite its close proximity to Byron’s comforts. The interiors utilise floor-to-ceiling gable windows and motorised skylights to bring the outside in, whilst a combination of rustic wood and contemporary furnishings add warmth in keeping with a timeless, unpretentious aesthetic. Enveloped in rambling bougainvillea and jasmine flowers, a freestanding hammered copper bathtub takes pride of place in the private courtyard—one of our favourite places on the property and the perfect spot for a sunset wine.

The property itself comprises four separate residences, each with its own entrance and amenities. Additionally, the Mediterranean-style courtyard, firepit, and veggie garden are communal and free to use at any time.

Your host, Chelsea, is available to provide insights into lesser-known local haunts, including picturesque Hinterland and idyllic beaches, all our favourite restaurants and bars, and of course everything practical you need to know to have a seamless and leisurely stay.

Where you’ll be

Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia

Nestled between the sea and the town centre, Joints has one foot in Byron’s laidback beach lifestyle and the other in its eclectic alternative culture. Moments from the town’s emerging culinary scene, numerous health & wellness retreats, and the crystal waters of Tallow Beach, the immediate neighbourhood provides a sanctuary that scratches every itch with all conveniences easily accessible by foot.

Arguably the area’s biggest drawcard is the consistent swell and numerous idyllic surf beaches to suit every ability and preference. Longboarders have been visiting since the ‘60s to take advantage of the endless righthand point break at the Pass, with the shortboard revolution arriving within a decade courtesy of local legend, Bob McTavish—founder of McTavish surfboards (located in the Arts & Industrial Estate). If you’re interested in getting in the water for the first time, there are plenty of options for surfing lessons and board hire. We recommend Clarkes Beach or Belongil when the waves are smaller if you’re just starting out.

If surfing isn’t your schtick, check out some of Byron’s Farmer’s Markets (Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Bangalow), award-winning restaurants, local craft breweries and distilleries. There’s something here for everyone from cuisine to landscape—we guarantee you’ll never run out of things to do. We’re here to help if you need any guidance.
