The space
Visitors are enthralled by the charm of this grecanic hamletand taken back in time. Like their 19th-century forebears, they too can discover the peace of these silent, unexplored retreats. The toponymy in English, German, Italian and Greek of Calabria accompanies the visitor on his journey through historic buildings, ancient churches, Giudecca, the remains of the Castle, the medieval tower, the Museum of the Greek language of Calabria dedicated to Gerhard Rohlfs, the Museum of Paleontology and Natural Sciences of Aspromonte, and the Path of Peasant Civilization, breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea and Etna, rocks embedded in the landscape such as the Lovers' Cave, local stone roads once traveled with the mule by Edward Lear, Norman Douglas and all the most important protagonists of the Grand Tour. At sunset, the warm glow of the street lamps, like lanterns of times gone by, light up the town and invite visitors to seek a place to eat and rest.

Where you’ll be

Bova, Calabria, Italy

BOVA is a mediaeval hamlet on the slopes of the Aspromonte, the “rough mountain”, that gives it name to the surrounding National Park. It is considered one of Italy’s most beautiful hamlets (“Borghi più belli d’Italia”) and one of its precious jewels ( “Gioielli d’Italia”) and orange Flag ("Bandiera Arancione"). Also American Friendly. Is the “cultural capital” of Calabria’s Graecanic area, where the older people still speak the ancient Calabrian-Greek tongue. At 900 metres above sea level, 15 minutes from the uncontaminated shores of the Ionian Sea, it stands on a natural panoramic terrace from which one may admire the imposing, majestic Sicilian volcano, Mount Etna. The mild and temperate climate makes Bova a place to visit all year round. In spring and autumn it is suitable for cultural tourism and trekking, in summer its location between sea and mountains allows you to spend the evenings in the cool and daytime swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea or under the larch pines of the National Park of Aspromonte. The temperate winter makes it a pleasant place and in February if it snows it becomes a magical place ...

I've been living in Bova for about 15 years, and I love this land I didn't know before, and then it became MY OWN. To understand the energy that the Greek Calabria gives you and in particular Bova, where you still speak the language of Omero and each place is enriched by the classical culture and Byzantine refinement, YOU JUST HAVE TO DECIDE TO COME and VISIT ME ...

During your stay

Dear guest, welcome to Bova in our B&B.
The name of the B&B "Kalòs" is in Greek of Calabria and means BEAUTIFUL. "Kalòs ìrtete stin Chora" means "Welcome to Chora". When we say Chora we mean the most important city of the Grecanica area .... Bova.
For us, the guest is sacred ... and this this way of thinking is part of our history: because any traveler could be a God who comes down to earth in disguise ... like a God of Olympus, in the past the sacred mountain for Old Greeks ...From Bova we see another mountain that is part of our skyline: it's Etna Volcano, sometimes snowy and sometimes steaming ...
We are happy to have you as our guest and to introduce you to this sacred hospitality that we call "filoxenia" , the love for foreign....
With us you’ll discover our ancient culture, language, history, and the beauties of Bova and the Aspromonte National Park. But above all you will appreciate the hospitality of the Greeks of Calabria and so we are sure that our land will remain in your heart....and you will talk about it to the whole world...
Have a nice stay , in greko we say "calapràmata !" ... good things !...
Best,
