Where you’ll be

Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia

"The Byron Bay General Store Cafe" is next door (7.30-2 pm) - for an easy vegetarian breakfast or lunch treat (popular with locals and celebrates alike), or it's just a 10 minute walk to the main part of town and the beach a stroll away.
- Walk the bays to the lighthouse, the most Easterly point in Australia; best in the early morning in your swim suit. Look out for the spouts of the whales (Nov-May) and check out the dolphins at Wategoe's Beach.
Byron Bay is an excellent place to learn to surf or dive/snorkel at Julian Rocks; on still days, sea kayak from the beach. Hang glide, skydive, hot air balloon! There are also whale watching excursions (May to Nov).
- Beaches close by ... Main Beach, Wategos’ Beach, Cosy Corner or Broken Head on Tallows Beach, or for the adventurous explore Seven Mile Roads’ lovely secluded beaches.
- Vibrant, colourful markets and street atmosphere with buskers and live music in all the pubs.
- Byron is Australia's 'Bohemian' capital with a strong community involved in the Arts, New Age life styles and conservation. Read our local ‘Echo’ online or the newspaper, there are many choices of Yoga, Meditation, Art Classes, etc ....
- Massages Thai style are great on any day, but on our few cloudy days, just the best. Try Kiva Spa with it's many hot/cold pools in Mullumbimby.
- In the evenings enjoy a host of live entertainment at The Rails, the Backroom of the Great Northern Hotel, or the Beach Hotel.
Famous festivals: The Falls Festival (January), Blues Festival (Easter), Splendor in the Grass, Byron Writers’ Festival, Latin Festival, Surf Carnivals, Triathlons'...
- Breakfast next door or the gourmet Bay Grocer. French - Dip in Fletcher St, or The Top Shop on Massinger St, Farmers’ Market Thursdays (8-11 am), The Farm nr the M!, Folk. On Main Beach eat your takeaways from Bay Lane (behind the Beach Hotel) - Fish Mongers for inspired fish and chips.
- Cocktails & tapas at The Balcony (upstairs at the round-about), The Mez Club, Oma ... the list goes on … please ask us. Book well ahead on weekends.
- Hire a car for delightful hinterland day trips to villages and mountain National Parks. Visit quaint Brunswick Heads seaside village and beaches, Bangalow, Nimbin, Minyon Falls, and Crystal Castle. Beautiful natural rainforest walks with wildlife. . . Relax, enjoy, feel free, Suzette & Brian (Katie the cat & Buddy the bird)
