The Painted Hills Cottage is a lovely private 2.5 bedroom house surrounded by a lush floral garden. This unique and charming cottage is perfect for a family vacation or a gathering of friends. Free wifi, AC, outdoor BBQ, whimsical nooks and corners, art, flowers, magic, and only 15 minutes away from the famous Painted Hills!
Pets?? We welcome pets but REQUIRE a $25/dog/night PET FEE (regardless of size) to be paid via cash on the day of arrival! All pets must be declared prior to arriving!

The Painted Hills Cottage, a charming European cottage surrounded by a serene private garden, is a botanical wonderland from early spring to late autumn with a zen like beauty during the winter months. It's located in a quiet neighborhood in Mitchell, a town of pioneer spirits. The owners have put all their love and creativity into the cozy house and garden, creating a peaceful private sanctuary within the spectacular rugged landscape of Eastern Oregon. The cottage is ideal for family get-togethers, meetings of friends or the romantic weekend for two.
The cottage features a remodeled bathrooms with a great rain shower, terry cotton towels, and organic soap, shampoo and conditioner. The bright and cozy bedrooms are furnished with new beds and high quality mattresses, fluffy European down comforters and pillows with soft cotton covers. The sun-flooded living room features a cozy sofa bed that can easily accommodate extra guests. There are big screen TV’s with DVD systems and international movie collections for fun entertainment. Wifi is available throughout the house and garden. Pets are welcome here too.The famous Painted Hills are only 12 minutes away by car and where-ever you go from here - the wild Beauty of Eastern Oregon will surround you and amaze you. The fragrant garden has an abundance of different kind of fruit trees and bushes and guests are invited to pick whatever is ripe through the seasons such as berries, grapes, plums, and pears. Wonderful fragrant culinary herbs can be cut fresh from the herbal garden for cooking a memorable meal in the well-stocked kitchens of both cottages.

Kitchen: gas stove with oven, coffee machine, coffee-grinder, rice- cooker, blender, refrigerator, toaster, electrical water-kettle, gourmet cookware, utensils, dishes for 8, basic condiments, herbs & spices.

Living Room: air-condition, big screen TV with DVD & VCR, great movie selection, comfy seating for 6, hide- a- bed sofa (can sleep two), decorative wood stove, working desk

Bedroom 1: full size bed with excellent mattress, European down comforter, linens provided, drawers, wardrobe, reading chair and lamp

Bedroom 2: 1 full size bed, 1 single bed, both with excellent new mattresses, European down comforters, fluffy pillows, drawers, linens provided, reading chair and lamp

Extra Bedroom: this small light flooded room is joined to Bedroom 1 by a sliding door and has a cozy sofa hide bed that can accommodate 2 more guests. It’s set up as a reading room. Children love it!

Dining Room: Seating for 6, stereo system

Bathroom: Recently remodeled white tiled bathroom with large walk in shower, rain showerhead, custom build wood cabinets, vanity mirror, sink, shelf, first aid cabinet with basic necessities. Garden: lawn chairs, sun-umbrella, children pool, benches & garden furniture, and new Australian style barbecue

Laundry Room: shoe shelves, wash machine, laundry sink, cleaning supplies. A dryer is available in a separate laundry room behind the Barn-room. Clothes lines are in the garden.

Barn-room (available for both houses): selection of games, woodstove, supply of firewood, seating for six, sofa, small TV with VCR, library of books and videos. The barn can sleep two more children in a cinch.

The surrounding area is spectacular with amazing views at every turn - a real geological wonderland. The famous Painted Hills are only 10 minutes away by car, and the other 2 units of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, the Sheep Rock and the Clarno Rock Formations, are between 40 and 70 minutes away by car on scenic Byways. The Painted Hills Vacation Rentals is an ideal base for exploring this amazing region and can be part of your own special Oregon adventure! My mother Barbara and I have created one of the most adorable places in Oregon - The Painted Hills Vacation - Cottages & Retreat! We're are having a wonderful time hosting travelers from around the world since 2008 in our 3 european style cottages close to the famous Painted Hills here in Eastern Oregon. I'm an herbalist with a bachelors of Science degree from the Bastyr University in Seattle. I'm also a cook and have had my own restaurant together with my 2 sisters in Seattle from 1990 till 200. The place was called Sisters and a popular Eatery in the famous Pike Place Market in the heart of Seattle.
My mother is a great master gardener and has created a beautiful oasis with the magic gardens surrounding the cottages. The serenity and beauty of the gardens are a special treat for all our guests. We both love to welcome travelers to this special area - a geological wonderland with no light or noise pollution where we are close to nature and the landscapes are breathtaking.
