A romantic cabin at Lofnes in traditional style, situated directly on the fjord facing the iconic mountain Hornelen. Complete relaxation, and as close to the elements as it is possible to get. Cozy and comfortable living area for four persons on the loft, and plenty of space downstairs for all your adventure gear. Great fishing in the fjord and hiking in the nearby woods and mountains. Relax in beautiful surroundings watching eagles, seagulls, whales and otters with Hornelen in the horizon.

The space
Dear adventurers! Welcome to your getaway at Lofnes to energize and relax, and not at least to experience the elements.

This cabin brings up the "Wow!" Magnificent views and location directly on the fjord. Open the window and the only thing you will hear are seagulls and the meditative sound of waves. Open the westward door, lit the candle, wrap in blankets and enjoy a cozy and romantic evening watching the sunset and the Hornelen panorama. Your basecamp for hiking Hornelen and other adventures in the heart of the fjords, and not at least for complete relaxation. Hikes in all categories, from several family friendly easy (short and longer) hikes nearby, to the more "bucket list" type of hikes to and around mountain Hornelen, e.g. to Vetvika, Veten and Keipen. All within 30 min drive from Lofnes. The 7000 years old stone carvings at Vingen is only a small boat trip away from your cabin (guided tours only). And not to mention the impressive geology in the area. You do not have to be a geologist to spot the most impressive geological formations called the Hornelen devonian bassin. For those who like skiing, the alpine resort at Harpefossen is an hour away, and cross country possibilities even closer. Scuba diving in the area is also reckoned to be high class. The well known fishing village Kalvåg with it's famous fish restaurant Knutholmen is a 45 min drive away, and not to forget the unbelievable Grotle beach only 30 min drive from Lofnes. Follow the year at Lofnes and more impressions from the cabin and nearby area at our insta, hornelenadventures.

We call the cabin "Lisjebuda", dialect for "the small sea house". Originally it was the smallest of two 100 year old sea houses my father and grandfather used for their fishing gear. They were both fishermen in and around the Lofnes fjord up to around 1965. The old sea houses were completely destroyed in a storm 1st of January 1992. Some of the few pieces left have been used as decoration in this carefully rebuilt replica of the original "Lisjebud"

Boat with 15 HP outboard motor for rent, located in the cabin's harbor. But we sincerely care about safety, so if it is too windy and in wintertime, the boat is securely docked for all of us. Too windy or not used to boats? No worries at all. You can fish your dinner standing right outside the cabin. Fishing rod is available upon request.

Private garden furniture and grill, as well as a dedicated place to clean your fish. Sit around the outdoor fireplace and enjoy a real evening campfire by the sea. Complimentary firewood is of course available. You will find marked hiking trails in the woods directly from the cabin. Take a 10 min hike up our forest trail and you can enjoy your evening meal or your glass of wine at our secluded picnic area, only you and we know about... And the views? Unbelievable!
WiFi and TV (but you will not spend much time watching TV in this scenery). Parking by the cabin. Only 1 km to the local grocery store in Leirgulen who has everything you need.

Please be informed that from May to September we are quite booked through our German agent. Some available openings though, which are regularly posted in the calendar. We therefore like to welcome you offseason, and highly recommend you to consider some days in our sea house during fall, winter and spring, maybe storm watching or just to get energized. With strong winds from southwest you will get an unbelievable experience of the elements feeling the house shaking. If you are lucky you might also spot the northern lights on a clear dark night. At least you will see the sky shining with millions of stars. From August to November it is crab season, and from February to April the Lofnes fjord host the traditional cod fishery, when the cod migrate from the sea to spawn in the fjord. Prepare your own seafood feast by the seashore!
And what about celebrating Christmas and New year at Lofnes? Together we'll find your complimentary Christmas three in our forest. Can't promise you snow (it is too close to the North Sea), but we can still promise you an experience of a lifetime.

At any season you will arrive to a warm and cozy cabin, with the beds ready made, and plenty of towels available. The only thing you need to bring is your favorite book (but you might also find a good book in our small library) and your outdoor gear. As your hosts we are always available for hints and tips about the area, and can give you some "off the beaten track" advices making your visit even more memorable. If you like to sleep overnight in a tent, we also have possibilities on the fields not far from the cabin. Welcome to Lofnes!

Note:
The house is of course thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to ensure COVID-19 protective measures.
