The secret escape in the Cairngorms National Park, Laghlasser offers luxurious self catering accommodation for couples who are looking for a relaxing retreat. Tucked away down a private track the cottage is surrounded by acres of beautiful pine forest which hosts an abundance of wildlife including red squirrels, pine martens and deer . The cottage has been lovingly renovated to sleep two and comes with a luxury hot tub - the perfect spot to rest after a day outdoors.

The space
All accommodation is on the ground floor. We have an open plan living / kitchen / dining area with a log burner to keep cosy in the colder months. The kitchen is very well equipped and fitted with high quality appliances including Rangemaster cooker and Smeg fridge / freezer. We provide the essentials to get you started - milk, tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets. Logs for the wood burner are also provided.

The bedroom has a king size bed and we provide all linen including towels and robes for the hot tub!

Outside, the decking area with outdoor seating is the perfect spot to take in the surroundings with a charcoal BBQ provided in the warmer months for outdoor dining. In the darker winter months the dark skies we are lucky to have here mean that virtually every star in the night sky is visible. There is a small river / burn which runs beside the cottage, you can walk along the burn which takes you to the River Don and there are walks along the riverbank.

The cottage does not have wifi however there is good 4G signal which works on most UK mobile networks. We encourage our guests to have a digital detox during their stay and make the most of the outdoors! We are pet friendly and the forest which is on our doorstep provides lots of freedom. This really is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the everyday and "switch off"!

Please note the garden is fenced but it is not dog proof.

There is a delightful tea room and gift shop only 2 miles from the Cottage. A further 5 miles will take you to Strathdon where there is a grocery shop and The Steading Bar, where you can enjoy the best local drinks and light snacks.

A 20 minute drive east takes you to Ballater where there are many shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a selection of walking routes. We are in a rural location so there are no takeaway options nearby so please come prepared!

Laghlasser gives you the ideal home from home for hillwalking, cycling or just plain relaxing holidays. With the Snow Roads route directly on the doorstep, there is an abundance of activities to enjoy, including skiing at the Lecht Ski Centre only 5 minutes drive. We are directly opposite the famous Corgarff Castle which is only a few minutes walk from the cottage. Originally built around 1530 the castle is steeped in history, including being used as a base to control illegal whisky smuggling! Scotland's renowned whisky trail is nearby with the nearest distillery at Glenlivet, tours are available and this is a 30 minute drive.
