It is centrally located just 6 miles south of Cheboygan, and close to everything! Do you want to go swimming or kayaking? Lake access is a 5 minute walk across the street. Like to snowmobile? The trail runs in front of the house. Want to put your boat in? Choose from 14 different launches on 5 lakes and rivers (the closest is 4 minutes away). Looking for a day trip? Drive 20 minutes North and hop on a ferry to Mackinac Island. It is less than 30 minutes to the premier ski hills. Included with your stay is our personal attention when you need it, and privacy when you want it.
Amenities include: Ultra-Fast WiFi (400 Mbps), Smart TVs (including downstairs 65" 4K TV entertainment space with Super NES Classic game console!), ample driveway space for parking a boat or snowmobiles (including an attached garage), complimentary coffee and tea, two study areas with desks, wrap-around deck, 5 minute walk to the picturesque North Central State trail. A Note to our Winter Guests:
Winter in Northern Michigan is a fun-filled adventure; we are glad you would like to spend it at our Chalet. Just keep in mind that “Up North” can bring a lot of snow and ice which you will need to prepare for. The phrase: “dress for the weather” especially rings true here. You will need to dress in layers, bring snow boots, hats, and warm gloves for the whole family. Even though the county does a good job keeping the main roads clear, traveling around will be challenging (perhaps even dangerous) for those not familiar with driving in snowy conditions.
Our Chalet is situated on a hill off North Straits Highway (US-27). Our long driveway has an incline up to the house. Special care needs to be taken when turning into our driveway off the highway - SLOW DOWN, A LOT! If you are going even a little fast, it is easy to slide across the driveway into the ditch.
We make every effort to keep the driveway and parking area plowed and stairs shoveled in the Winter but if it’s snowing, it’s hard to keep them clear all the time. We do leave salt or snow melt and a shovel near the lower garage door for our guests to use.
Here are a couple of tips that will help:
1. As mentioned above, slow down when coming in off the highway.
2. The driveway is defined by orange markers on either side. Please stay in between them.
3. When you start to drive your vehicle up the driveway, don’t stop until you’re at the top.
4. Park all vehicles close to the house so the snowplow guy can clear the parking area.
Northern Michigan is beautiful in the Winter. Please be careful when driving and enjoy your stay!
