A unique hotel located in a tranquil Caribbean setting...where guests enjoy cleanliness, comfort, beautiful sunsets and an abundance of exotic marine life and birds just outside their door. This is a rustic, natural waterfront property with sunset views & a private dock located on a small coral island off the coast of Belize. The Double and the Queen rooms are air-conditioned efficiencies, with wifi, cable, microwave, coffee maker, mini fridge, toaster, safe drinking water and hot water. This is not a Caribbean party house, but caters to the nature lover, readers, divers and snorkelers; those seeking peace and quiet, mature couples. Both the Queen and the Double unit have sprinkler fire systems.

I noticed in the reviews someone said our bathmat was shabby and torn. Lol, this room has antiques and items made to look antique. The rug in question is a runner in front of the sink made to look old...all of our guests are provided with nice white bath mats and towel sets. This house is historical by island standards, and the decor reflects that. If you want modern and perfect, please stay somewhere else! We like our down to earth, relaxed environment.

This is not America. Belize is a developing country, which was very, very poor up until recently (still is in most non-tourist areas). There are power outages, water pressure issues, petty theft, lots of stray animals, etc. CAYE CAULKER HAS WATER PRESSURE ISSUES. IT IS ONLY 35 PSI FOR ENTIRE ISLAND! WITH ALL NEW BIG HOTELS, IT CANNOT KEEP UP. This is not just Leeside, but all over this tiny island!

Like most bathrooms in Belize, there are issues, and ours has some peeling paint in the shower which will be addressed when I return. Our contractor did not have time to get to get to it last season. This is the tropics, and as a waterfront property, it is exposed to salt constantly. Items age quickly here. My father would say this is the only place he knew of where you could leave out a glass bottle and it would disintegrate in a year.

So, all this to say, if you are looking for quaint, peaceful, clean and safe - away from the commercial area, but still in the village, then this is the place for you!

Where you’ll be

Caye Caulker, Belize

The island is small, less than five miles long and roughly ½ mile wide at its narrowest. It is located near the world's second largest living barrier coral reef. Excellent snorkeling, diving, fishing and swimming. White sandy roads with few vehicles. Its quiet and private where we are located on the back of the island, but the action is just two blocks away on Front Street - restaurants, bars, gift shops, etc. A short water taxi ride will take you to the mainland where you can explore Mayan Ruins, horse back ride or zip-line through the rain forest, visit the zoo or butterfly sanctuary, or tube through the caves. Our manager can advise you on any activities you are interested in.
