Wyldwood Eco Cabin is a peaceful private retreat located on a 50acre coastal property midway between Tathra & Bermagui. The pristine beaches of Mimosa Rocks National Park are just a short drive away. The cabin has a comfortable retro vibe with great views of the countryside from its elevated position. Satellite internet to ‘work from home’. Surfing, walking & fishing nearby at Picnic Point, Aragunuu, Bithry, Middle Beach, Gillards, & Nelsons. For nature lovers wanting to totally relax.

The space
The Eco Cabin is around 40 square metres, with additional space outside including a porch & verandah. The private two-roomed space is solar powered, light and airy. There's a kitchen with a gas oven & grill and a bar fridge. A wood heater for the cooler days and nights will keep you cosy. Firewood is supplied.
The rain water tank is newly installed, the water fresh and clean. The instant gas hot water service is great, delivering hot water to the kitchen and a 'rainfall' shower and hand basin outside in a semi enclosed deck area. The toilet is located in a separate small shed and is similar to those encountered at road side stops and camping grounds (it is not a flush toilet).
The Eco Cabin is designed for conservative use of power and water. The solar power system is not suitable for appliances that draw a lot of power (eg hair dryers). The gas oven is used for making toast & boiling a kettle.
As with all solar power systems, if there are very grey rainy days we may need to use a generator to charge the batteries. It’s a quiet generator & only needs to be ‘on’ for an hour or two.
The side porch overlooks bushland and one of our oldest trees. There's a sheltered front verandah and deck to take in the views of rolling idyllic countryside, with the sacred Mumbulla Mountain in the distance.
Inside, up a couple of steps from the kitchen/dining area you enter the lounge and bedroom. Here you find a club lounge, retro furnishings, a very comfortable Queen bed with quality cotton linen, and a TV/DVD player (lots of DVDs to choose from). There is no TV aerial, so you are limited to the DVD collection or streaming on your device.
The Cabin has satellite NBN available, enabling internet & wifi. Mobile coverage is via ‘wifi-calling”. Enjoy an off-grid slow retreat with your dog welcome. The drive to the studio is a gravel track with trees either side. You will love the experience of entering a natural sanctuary. The main residence where we live is short walk away (about 300 meters).

Recent review: “We had a lovely couple of days at Wyldwood. It’s close enough to reach some lovely beaches and the Bega valley. Madeleine is a great host and has lots of local tips. The cabin was super clean, has a really well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, and wonderful views over the surrounding bush. The cabin was cosy with the very efficient wood burning stove. The cabin has a great porch where you can sit, have a drink and watch the passing wildlife, wonderful birds, kangaroos and even a wombat. The highlight is the outside shower. There is nothing more magnificent than to stand under a hot shower on a clear night and watch the stars as you shower. If you like being in the bush, give it a try! Where you’ll be

Tanja, New South Wales, Australia

Tanja is ideally located in the cultural hub of the Far South Coast. Whether it's culinary delights or creative pursuits, everything is a short country drive away. Please keep in mind that social distancing and Covid safe hygiene are expected at all times. There are plenty of food outlets, cafes & restaurants to choose from. The area is welcoming to visitors who are the mainstay of the local economy.
Many restaurants require bookings. It’s best to make enquirers directly with the venues.

The Tanja locality itself has numerous ceramic artist studios regularly
open for visitors. A few minutes down the road is Navigate Arts - an old church venue that hosts music, theatre, literary and performance events.

Tathra is only 15 minutes drive south offering great bakeries and cafes, local oysters and the Tathra Pub has a restaurant and regular free live music, whale watching is a must from the pub deck and headland. 20 minutes north takes you to Bermagui - a fishing village with bakeries, gelato shop, fresh seafood and stunning views across to Gulaga Mountain. Bermagui Hotel has live music and a stunning outlook. On the way there you will drive past Murrah Hall and Four Winds - both venues with live music and performances.

The coast from Tathra to Bermagui is nearly all national park, with lots of gravel roads leading you to pristine and secluded beaches. Snorkelling, swimming and surfing is always an option, as is sitting under the shade with a good book. If you prefer patrolled beaches, Tathra and Bermagui have great beaches for sunbathing and catching waves. Bermagui’s Blue Pool is a wonderful ocean pool that is good for a swim or snorkelling. Kianniny Bay at Tathra is a pretty sheltered cove. Further south is Merimbula, Pambula, and Eden. All well worth a visit.
