Bright and airy first-floor barn conversion comprising one living room with kitchenette and and dining area, one large double bedroom and one bathroom with shower, sink and WC.

Ghillies Barn looks over parkland towards Burley Manor on land which was once the Manor's Home Farm. It lies one mile north of Rutland Water and one mile from the market town of Oakham and is especially well-placed for cyclists offering direct access to Rutland's cycle paths.

Suitable for five nights stay maximum.

The space
Private and secure parking in the yard in front of Ghillies Barn and with immediate access on to Rutland's cycle ways makes this especially convenient for cyclists and visitors to Rutland Water. It has its own area of lawn of nearly half an acre with several outside seating areas and guests are welcome to make use of this area for sunbathing and relaxing. Rutland is packed with interesting places to visit with two market towns and a wealth of picture postcard pretty villages, pubs, local sites as well as the internationally well-known Rutland Water.

Where you’ll be

Burley, England, United Kingdom

Rutland, England's smallest county, is often described as England's other Cotswolds with its stone built villages, two market towns and its unspoilt rural charm. At the heart of the county lies the jewel in the crown, Rutland Water, with a wide range of leisure activities including swimming, fishing, walks, a wide range of eateries and the famous pleasure boat - The Rutland Belle. To get a good preview of what Rutland Water has to offer download to reader or buy the print copy 'All Aboard The Rutland Belle' available from Amazon.

Rutland offers access to a wide range of events over the Spring / Summer season and some of these are shown in the photographs. From Rutland Water itself and the Rutland Belle with its popular Public Cruises and themed Cruises (especially the Summer Gin Cruises), Rutland also hosts the extremely well-known Rutland County Show, the International Bird Fair (now the Global Bird Fair) and our very own Glastonbury Music Festival, 'Extonbury'. For those keen on amateur music, a wide range of local bands regularly post in my own FB Group - Rutland Rocks!

Further afield, The Rutland - Melton CiCLE Classic is an annual visitor as is Burleigh Horse Trials, held at Burleigh House- about half an hour away. As well as Oakham itself we are also only a short drive from Uppingham, Melton Mowbray (home of the pork pie) and the beautiful Georgian town of Stamford with its very popular Friday Market. Both Rutland county towns host markets too.

For those wanting to eat out, we're very well served with local pubs and restaurants with the nearest being only one mile away, pubs, cafes, restaurants in Oakham and a wide range of village pubs in the local area.
