So…you have decided to hang your hat in the “Hat”? Our 1945 fully-renovated home is in the city’s oldest district, the River Flats. We’re across from athletic venues, trail system and parks. Minutes away from downtown, coffee shops, restaurants, grocery and historic Medalta Potteries. The house honours the era of bygone years, but we have provided all of today’s conveniences that you will need. We would love to host you!

The space
As Abbot & Costello once asked—“What’s on Second?”—our house across from the ballpark, curling rink and the river! The walking/biking trail system is nearby and deer (and the occasional moose) are known to stroll by. The location is also close to downtown and the distance is walkable or within a 2 minute drive.
We have provided everything to make your stay comfortable including high speed Wifi, Smart TV (including basic cable/TSN) and fully outfitted kitchen.
This is a corner property, there is plenty of parking along two sides of the street and a small private parking pad is available at the rear. Please do not park across the avenue as our neighbor requires parking space for his work vehicle.
This home is not safe/suitable for toddlers and children. Absolutely no smoking/vaping of any kind on the property; pets/animals strictly prohibited due to severe allergies.

What's on Second? is centrally located in Medicine Hat’s oldest residential neighbourhood, the River Flats. Nature and the South Saskatchewan River are right across the street - enjoy the serene walking trail along the berm, winter or summer. However, you are still very close to many popular eating, entertainment and sporting venues. The Police Station is down the street, so the neighbourhood is safe and quiet ;)

Having enjoyed Airbnb as travellers, we are excited to be hosts to travellers visiting Medicine Hat. Christine, a lifelong Hatter, was born around the corner from the property we offer. We both are semi-retired with Christine having worked in retail, the medical field, office administration and being the former owner/operator for ten years of a tea house blocks away from “What’s on Second.” Mel is a retired teacher/administrator, who is still active in the community in a volunteer capacity and odd jobs. We are the parents of two grown sons and grandparents to three youngsters. It is our goal that your stay in Medicine Hat is a most memorable and enjoyable one.

During your stay

While we offer keyless self check-in, we enjoy the opportunity to personally check-in our guests if we are available. We respect your privacy and space. As our primary residence is nearby, we drive by often and can be easily accessible if a need arises. We might stop by during your visit for lawn/yard maintenance but will make our visit as brief as possible.
